I could not help but cringe as I read a post from someone declaring that Jews were Gods chosen people, and God gave the Jews the right to occupy/claim Israel.

What is your feeling of God choosing a certain people, and giving them privilege to claim land over and above anyone elses fair entitlement?

I wonder if I will be called "anti-semitic" for having the opinion that no one is special or deserves any better recognition than anyone else.
Oh well. Guilty as charged, I guess in that case, because I do not adhere to such pompous mindsets.

But, convince me, please, this isnt what its about.

God has been choosing people and where they'll live all throughout the old testament bible. Jews are firm believers of that old testament, and in doing so, God has recognized their faithfulness and has set aside Israel for them. Too bad he forgot to tell everyone else :wink:

So, it should come as no surprise that HAMAS itself was a creation of Shin Bet, an Israeli intelligence service, which created and funded HAMAS as a bogus opposition group to prevent Arafat from unifying Palestine.

This is why HAMAS can be counted on to set off a bombing or a kidnapping when Israel most needs one.

Do you really think that people who believe that the only piece of land they deserve on the planet is in a size of a farm, surrounded by hundreds of millions of Arabs who want to murder them and live in a 3rd world mentality, consider theme-selves "chosen" or lucky in any way?

The U.S. created the Soviet Union, and then proceeded to dissolve the USSR when it was no longer in the interest of U.S. foreign policy to keep the massive U.S. taxpayer-funded subsidies flowing eastward (or to keep the imaginary "threat" of the Soviet boogeyman alive any longer). If the Americans could do it w/ an entire continent, I'm sure the Israelis can pull it off w/ a tiny, fringe terrorist group.

I wouldn't call you anti-semitic for having that mindset, simply because most expansionist cultures have used some sort of religious justification for the conquest or habitation of specific territories, and that belief usually requires a de facto devaluation of the lives of the current inhabitants.

Americans believed it, the British believed it, the Romans believed it, the Nazis believed it, the Jews believed it, the Spanish believed it, the Catholic Church believed it...

Do you ever listen to yourself? You fluctuate between claims that the USA has some sort of godlike power over the planet and that it has no power whatsoever.

Can you just make one realistic assessment of something?

They made it up, I believe. Some sort of mythos pieced together from different cultures, centered around the superiority of the Aryan race.
