Julieus Caesar forged an Empire from Gaul to Spain and to Africa and the east. He was a political genius who brought himself to the control of Rome itself and was a master of military tactics and had a mastry of the reality of what he could do. He even managed to introduce some very good economic and farming reforms that stayed with Rome until its fall. He was also beloved by the bulk of the people of Rome slain by political enemies and thus made a martyr and a catalyst for his protege Octavian.
He is a leader beyond all listed.
That isnt to say those listed arent great. |

Hmm, not sure I'd measure how good a leader is by his own capacity for self-aggrandisement.
Fortunately, Caesar also implemented measures that improved the lot of his subjects, such as reforming the evil tax-farming system that caused such misery in the Eastern provinces of Asia Minor, as well as encouraging trade and extending the benefits of Roman citizenship to worthy 'barbarians'...... |

Liu Bang's gotta be up there....to rise from the rank of middle-class village headman to emperor of China. True Qin Shi Hunag unified China, but Liu Bang made it work.
I mean the Chinese people(Han) are named after the dynasty he founded. |

If anybody calls Regan a good president again, I will explode. He was corrupt, lax in government management, and sent our country into lots of debt.
Winston Churchill was a pretty good leader, but not the best.
George washington was the greatest leader ever. |

| Of those listed, CAIVS IVLIVS CÆSAR. I actually think his nephew, IMPERATOR CÆSAR DIVI FILIVS AVGVSTVS was a better leader than him. Much more astute politician, and though not as good militarily, he was able to command more respect than his uncle. |

Thatcher turned Britain from a basket case back into a nation of prospertiy and respect on the world stage. Reagan helped to destroy the Soviet Union peacefully. They may not be the greatest, but they're pretty damn great....... |

| Personally, I think Lincoln deserves some props. Considering the kinds of crises he faced in office, both from the war and personally, it is amazing how he managed to persevere. |

| Best? You mean who was the most capable at leading people? Hitler. He led an entire people to either murder Jews, Gypsies, JWs, Gays, mentally retarded, and others, or to turn a blind eye. You have to be one hell of a leader to accomplish that. |

It's got to be Winston Spencer Churchill - purely for his actions from June - September 1940. He was the right man in the right place at the right time. If Britain had gone down in 1940 - not through invasion but rather through sueing for peace - then the world today would be unrecognisable.
NB - I see no problem with any of the candidates. Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher definitely belong up there - President Reagan for setting up the win over the Soviets and Maggie for changing the shape of Britain and of the world. |

| Though I thought of another leader who was probably greater than those listed, I voted for Abraham Lincoln because of his amazing leadership during the greatest crisis America has ever faced. He saved the Union and freed the slaves, he was awesome. I also admire Winston Churchill and Ronald Reagan for their determination and bold leadership during difficult and unsure times. However, I'd say that George Washington was probably the greatest leader, however I choose Abraham Lincoln because the majority of Washington's contributions didn't occur while he was in office. The American people loved him, and with reason. He led them to victory in the Revolutionary War. He was brave, bold, determined and he saw it through. He had to make difficult decisions and his leadership was often critisized, but even so he won crucial battles and won the war. Ignoring his accomplishments, the man was impressive in courage, humility and integrity, the ideal leader. |
