This seems pretty promising to me. I dont know squat about chemistry but if anyone with an educated eye has something to add id love to hear it.
Quote: Liquid armor is still undergoing laboratory tests, but Wetzel is enthusiastic about other applications that the technology might be applied to.
As am i. |

Its basicly the type of fluid as Silly Putty. A non newtonian fluid. You remember how Silly putty stretches and keeps its shape but you can bounce it like a rubber ball also.

Can't see why something like this wouldn't add some protection but I'm sure there are other things to think of. Like what if the fliud dries out? Just how breathable is it? Is it water proof? Will it be heavier than standard body armor?
But hey everything needs to be tried to find out what works. |

Well the basis premise of body armour is to spread out the force of a bullet impact safely, liquid would be able to do that much better.
From what im looking at it effectivly looks a bit like very condensed fat. |

| Though this clearly is an amazing development, I've given up gasping in awe at weapons innovations in general, because I see them as attempts to bolster military and police authority rather than provisions of "security" as such... If the bastards devloping tasars and sophisticated electornic and sonic weaponry put half of thier time and effort into more worthwhile, humanitarian causes, the world would genuinely be a better place. |
