This is weird - when I press the quote link to respond to a post, Firefox opens a little window telling me that it downloaded something, but I don't get the screen with the quoted text wherein I would type my response?

I'm using a new computer, so probably just missing some plug-in or have some setting wrong?

And no, I don't want to hear how great Opear or Netscape or IE are.

I use firefox and it works fine for me... Try fiddling around in Tools Options and see if you can fix it. That's all I can think of that might be causing problems.

Let me turn it on and try to mess it up like yours is.

Mine is running fine. Quotes just fine. But then again it might be an older version than you have.

I use plain mozilla most of the time. I like a bit more eye candy.

I don't have any problems. Try uninstalling and reinstalling.

Also make sure you have java enabled and installed on your machine. If you have any script blockers or java disabled, it won't work in FF.

Other people have had the same problem before. Are you running the most recent version of Firefox (1.5.0.4)?

I'd try reinstalling Firefox first (which won't erase any bookmarks or anything), and if that doesn't work, then create a new profile.

I think it might be the Java issue that someone else mentioned. It seems to be working fine on one of my computers, so I'll investigate the Java question on the other one sometime tonight.

Make sure you have JavaScript enabled. Java has nothing to do with this site except for the chat room (and Java and JavaScript have nothing to do with each other, despite the name).
You can enable JavaScript from Tools->Options->Content

Thanks for the tip - I'd quite forgotten the distinction between Java vs. JavaScript.

Truly bizarre. The "quote" button is just a link to a web page, it should handle it fine.

I actually just got this a few minutes ago. I couldn't visit any link on PCF because Firefox wanted to download the PHP file instead of opening it. Strange...I just restarted Firefox and it works fine.
