I'm a foreign student. I'm doing a research on the topic " is the Australian constitution out of date?" From my point of view, I feel the answer would be a YES. There are several reasons to that.
First would be the role of the Govoner General(GG). 3 Quarter of the constitution speaks about the role of GG. The GG is the Head of State and is the Queen's representative. I understand that Australia is no longer ruled by the Queen and therefore the role of GG as the Queen's representative should be changed.
Second would be the Monarchy system. Based on Australia Act, 1986, Australia is no longer ruled by the Queen. Therefore, as an independent country Australiea should practice the Republic system. A President should have the ruling power.
Third is the definition of marriage. The consitution defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman. This goes in conflict with the social issue of today's society where same-ex marriage is included.
Fourth is regarding the new technology inventions. Science has found it's favour in the world. However, certain inventions are not recognize as applicable to the society as written in the constitution. Once again this goes in conflict with the standard of the current world.
My opinions maybe wrong and they maybe correct. However I would appreciate and be delightful if some of you would contribute to my opinion to either support or go against my opinion.
