:-D

Why is Islam the fastest growing religion in the world in your opinion?
why do you think people to convert to islam mostly not to other religions?

of course you would want my opinion to start with......

Islam is the fastest growing because

all religions in the world + issues unconcerned with religion - things that seem irrational = ISLAM

People convert to islam because (as i read in many books) they find islam very relaxing and very helpful.

Islam is the fastest growing religion because:

A) If you marry a Muslim you HAVE to convert even though you don't believe.

B) Islamic countries have higher birth rates.

C) Apostates are punished with death. (or at least shunned by the community)

It would be interesting to know how many of the estimated 900 - 1400 million Muslims actually beleive in it??

Quote: The Islamic religion has a long history of myth making. The claim they are the fastest growing religion in the world is pure myth. We have collected the latest statistics from David A. Barrett’s huge two volume, "World Christian Encyclopedia", the 2001 AD edition. In case you haven’t heard of this work, it is the world standard for religious statistics.

Muslim's claim that their growth rate is 235 percent and 47 percent for Christianity. This statistic came from the Readers Digest Almanac and Yearbook 1983, and represents 235 percent increase over 50 years. Muslims always leave off the 50 year fact to make it appear they are going 235% every year. A simple review of the readers Digest study shows that the growth rate of Islam vs. Christianity is directly linked to the birth rate in Third World countries where Islam dominates and not actual conversions to each religion. Christianity has always been larger than Islam. These statistics from Readers Digest are over 20 years old. Further, we do not consider readers digest to be an authority on such matters. Why will Muslims not quote real authoritative statistics from certified research groups who show Islam is not the fastest growing religion in 3/4’s of the worlds countries.

Don't forget that their people are subjugated by the Imams and warlords in extremist areas.

That those who want to leave Islam are threatened and coerced to recant their wish to leave under penalty of death

That, in my opinion, a portion of those who convert are poor and have nothing else, and it provides some semblence of hope.

My issue with Islam is not the message it teaches, but the application in which "man" applies to it's followers. Often it's threatening, violent, and cultish even in the best of terms. Honor killings are often dismissed as "rare" - I'd suggest not, even for those who are not following the orthodoxy of Sharia law.

if a muslim women can't marry non-muslims
but muslim men can, because the children will then be accounted as muslims which is not the case with muslim women, and the nonmuslim wife is forced to convert.............maybe you have come across strict people or something but as modern muslim they don't have to....

death penalty isn't used in most of the islamic country if not all, me and paroah have discussed it earlier with other members,
killing apostates isn't a law it was just to stop weak believers from abondening islam after the prophet's death.....

Richard, you might be right, but from the relationships many non-muslims have converted, i have seen many interviews with converted muslims..........

Pankor, yes only in extremist areas......such ksa........death i have commented on previously, as for the poor......sorry to tell you that many of the converters aren't poor at all, such as yousef islam (the british pop singer, don't know his previous name) and scientific people.......
how many times do i have to repeat that islam is not a violent religion?

I met a Muslim girl who was going out with a non Muslim and it ended because if they were to get married he would have to convert to a religion he didn't believe in. Not only is it unfair to force people to convert it's an insult to the religion that you have someone who says they're a Muslim when they don't believe in it or want to be one.

Back to our out of date laws discussion. Halal. The whole point of Halal to me is that God doesn't want his other creations to be put through unnecessary torment and pain for us to eat. So in the Koran it says to slit the animals throat , in front of no other animals, so it has as painless and untraumatic death as possible. Would in not be in the spirit of what God wants to use even less painful ways to kill the animal that we have developed now? (I'm not saying our way of killing amimals is better than yours as the way we herd them in to the slaughter houses is apparently very traumatic)

Oh, I'm not letting you get away with that one. You have a tendency to make outrageously false statements in attempts to shine a positive light on your religion (which is admirable in and of itself, but you choose to do so by misleading people). So here goes:

A man in Afganistan is currently facing the death penalty for nothing more than converting from Islam to Christianity.

Homosexuality is punished by death in 6 Islamic countries: Saudi Arabia, Iran, Mauritania, Sudan, Somalia and Yemen.

In 2005, death sentences were carried out by (not mentioned above): Indonesia, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Pakistan and Palestine.

In 2005, Iran alone executed over 90 people, Saudi Arabia a close second at 86 (higher than the USA, which is known for its love affair with the death penalty).

Also in 2005, death sentences were imposed in Algeria, Morocco, Syria, Lebanon.

Lastly, Iraq, Saudi Arabiia and Iran are the world leaders in the practice of the death penalty.

Actually Singapore holds that honour with twice as many executions per capita than Saudi Arabia.

Also you forgot about Malaysia, they also carry out the death penalty.

i accept there are converts to islam but it is the fastest growing religion mainly because of the high birth rates among muslims.

if islam were the fastest growing religion because of the reasons you mentioned then islam would have been the fastest growing religion for the last 1400 years. so now muslims would be largest in numbers instead of christians. since this is not the case so we can be sure that islam has not
always been the fastest growing religion.

sorry had to inlude in the last minute...I saw a death penalty execution with my own eyes in KSA when I was 13......but the most surprising thing is that the two men executed for being drug dealers were our room neighbors in the hotel......

And you ask, "What is the problem?" The problem is you make blanket statements that are unfounded only to make your point. And as for the UK being the only one, hardly; read on

Jesus!!! A 13 year old girl witnessing an execution!! Wasn't it distressing?

If you were staying in a hotel and they were your room neighbours it must have been a quick process from arrest to death?

Did you even read my post above? UK? Another country? Did you even see the list of countries that have abolished the death penalty?

Muslima in 1900 in africa christians were 8.5 % of the population and muslims were 17.4% of the population. now christians are 56 % and muslims are 29 % . if just in hundred years christians can become more in number in africa then islam had 1400 years. if islam has been the really the fastest growing religion since its birth then it would have largest adherents by now. any one can see it.
