did israel have superior technology or because of some other reasons?
Superior technology and organization, as well as the fact that they were fighting for survival, not merely territory. |

| I might as well add that a Aerial Train from the US of M-60 Shermans really helped us survive through that time. |

Blockaded means they are not letting us move s**t off our own coasts. That is an act of aggression.
But stacking troops against our border? Not justification for war. I would be all for stacking our defenses up, but not for attacking.
There is of course, the minor fact that Nasser was periodically threatening to destroy Israel. But hey, if some nitwit with an army, navy, and airforce starts threatening to destroy your country, I guess the morally right action is to sit with your thumbs up your ass and wait for him to do it. |

That war was over the second it started.
The Israeli Airforce had one main objective: Complete annihilation of the Egyptian Airforce as it consisted 70% of the arab air-power. And so it happened, We caught them all with their pants down. 16 airfields were bombed almost simultaneously by 180 Israeli planes which took out 357 planes on the ground. Only 8 managed to go airborn but were soon shot down. After that phase, Israel had nothing to worry about air raids and could easily direct attacks to anywhere anytime. |

Skippy nailed it first post IMO.
The egyptians were also using standover tactics and had no formal plan of how they would conduct operations. they were relying on the threat of overwhelming force rather than the implimentation. Israel called their position and did something they didn't expect, at which point the lack of organisation and strategy of the egyptian forces was exposed.
However, the egyptians didn't just get down about it. They learned all their lessons. |
