I was thinking about having ideology debates. Each ideology/party would choose a team of, say, five members to debate another team of a different ideology/party affiliation.

There would be a team of judges (3-5) to rate each individual's and team's performance and declare a winner. The judges would discuss this in a forum hidden to all members but them and the admins.

Each team would be allowed an opening statement, outlining their basic beliefs. Upon the posting of both teams' opening statements, each team would be able to ask a series of questions of the other team to be answered in depth. Upon the completion of the questions, each team would be allowed to post a closing statement, explaining why their ideology is superior to that of their opponents.

The Teams:
Republican Party
Green Party
Democratic Party
Libertarian Party
Constitution Party
Radicals
Independents

Considering that the radicals consist of communists, socialists, anarchists, and a whole variety of other ideologies, it might be better to select one ideology to enter into this competition rather than having a number of people who don't necessarily agree on their platform.

Similarly, I don't know what the situation is with the independents, but I don't think that they should be excluded from this debate simply by virtue of not having a party affiliation.

Anyway, what are everyone's thoughts on this? Is it feasible? Desirable?

I like the team approach better than the great debates...

Maybe have a MVP, Best Post, and then of course the Winners...
