Along time ago almost all deities originated from the fear of nature. Earthquakes and Flooding: Posidon of course, Thunderstorms: Zeus at target practice. The people of these times came to have a god for everything that was feared. From this comes in the pratice of human sacrifice. When the Tigris and Euphrates rivers flooded they thought that the gods were angry and since every now and then a flood would take lives (and crops) it was only natural to assume that the gods wanted people dead.

More recent Religions have developed once again from our fears our religions have undergone little change compared to their predecessors. The main fear here though (as opposed to flooding, tornados etc.) is death. The reason for this transition from fear of nature to fear of death was because humans have been able to control nature. They are the only species on this planet to take a "god" and turn it into a slave.

At this time people worry so much about death that they turn to various faiths to reduce the pain and give them promises of eternal life. And the reason they're so sucessful is because how could you refuse such amazing promises? They trap people into believeing in miracles because the various participants of these religion SO want to believe anything... even lies.
This would also go to explain why even people that participated of religions that demanded human sacrifice still continued to participate.

why do atheists all sound so pessimistic and "f**k the world" when they talk about god :?

You act as if humans just decided to make up religion one day to soothe their own fears of death. First of all, knowing that you made something up wouldnt do a very good job of taming your fears now would it? And second of all, Jesus (as well as all the other prophets) gave their message from God and performed miracles. Its that simple.
Now, what part of that had anything to do with random people making up religion out of a fear for death? :?

Christianity wasn't meant to be a new religion, just a Jewish cult. However, unlike the Mormons (that are trying the same thing) we realized we were not Jews anymore.
Christianity is still not a religion so much as a philosophy. It's meant to be a relationship with Jehovah and and a way of life. Live and let live, love and be loved. But, most have forgotten this.

:?

I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion of a "Jewish cult", considering that Judaism doesn't believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God. Christianity was as much a new religion as Islam was during the time of Mohammed.

A philosophy of the divine is religion.

Religion is as much as personal thing as politics is. Every individual must determine it for themselves, and walk they path they believe is right. For me, the Holy Spirit calls me to walk the path of love in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. That's what being a Christian means to me.

Well Mormons think there founder was real and Christians reject him. Mormons still claim to be a Christian Cult.

Early Christianity wasn't about divinity, that came once the Catholics took over and made it into a religion.

And that's fine, but true Christianity goes beyond simple gods and devils. It's morals, politics and even economy (think communism).

Christianity is far more then the common Christian knows and is . far more then most non-Christians know.
