| Why is it that individually you do not believe in God? What is the strongest argument for tossing the idea of (a) God out the window that you can throw at me? |

Perhaps you don't, but how is that an argument against his existence? |

| I look at it this way. With so much that needs attention in my life, my family's lives, my community, my state, my nation, and my world. . .I simply can't abide a god or a religion supposedly promoting a god that expects us to stop and get on bended knee for even an instant. I had a dream over and over when I was "trying" to become a christian back in my late teens. . . a godlike figure kept telling me to quit wasting my time believing and GET BUSY doing; so I did, and the dreams immediately stopped. So I guess my defense of being atheist is that god told me to be an atheist. . . get up, get busy, quit looking up, quit getting on bended knee, quit worrying about what god is doing or not. Tend yourself, tend your life, and if you have time left, tend others who don't have the time nor resources that you have. |

Don't you think that the burden of proof is on the side that says there is God? |

Don't you think that the burden of proof is on the side that says there is God? The burden of proof is on the individual to decide what to believe. There is no reason, nor need, to prove our beliefs to anyone else. |

It's quite simple, I believe in causality, logic and fact. All of these are opposed to the idea of a god. |

There are things that we know are true, but can't prove.
This thread was designed for the open minded amongst us to hear interesting arguments against God's existence.

How so? In what specific way(s)? |

Congratulations. You understand what faith is all about. If everyone else could get this through their skulls the world would be a much better place. |

Why be specific? I could jabber on about specifics of hours, and I doubt anyone would read it.
No, no, instead I'll use a sweeping generalization, something that people can understand.
Religion is based on folklore, assumptions, and mob rule. Science is based on questions, research, data, observation and irrefutable fact.
I can believe fact, or I can choose to ramble at imaginary friends, deny reality, preform neurotic rituals and they'll either send my to a church or and insane asylum. |

no evidence to support its existance. 2 billion followers is no evidence? |

no evidence to support its existance. 2 billion followers is no evidence? The amount of people who believe something is not evidence for the validity of their belief. |

Quite right. I'm the only person I know of that believes I have the power to remotely control the direction of other people's thoughts, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong. In fact, you're all now witnesses to my power. |
