Slavery is obviously wrong and the human race has mostly grown past it.

At that time this wasn't readily apparent to the human race and God provided rules to adjudicate slavery among these primitives. Many of the other things in the Tanahk that seem barbaric to us in the Tanahk are the same way. Remember this was written well before the Babylonian Empire. This was a long, long time ago. The human races has advanced a good bit since then, in some ways.

Plus, ancient slavery does not correspond to pre-industrial chattel slavery. Many slaves often chose to remain at the house that "enslaved" them when their time was done. Often they even married into the family.

You mean I'm the one who's supposed to change? God won't change his law because it's inconvenient?! ;)

 As amazing as this may sound, yes.

I don't understand. Why would God create rules for slavery? If it is wrong(or right), it is wrong (or right) 100% in God's eyes (I believe, as I was always taught with God there is either black or white - no gray). So if it is wrong now, it was obviously wrong then. Or if it was right then (with rules) than it is right now (with rules). While I know you don't have the answers personally, and I am not asking you for the answers, (just thinking out loud and bouncing ideas off you), it would appear that God's view of slavery has changed over the years to mirror our view (or the popular view). Meaning that A) we didn't totally understand back then and/or currently, or B) we are changing popular opinion of God view on things to match our own.
