I am curious as to why Christianity was started & seemed to be, for many many years, limited to a certain area of the world.
Why weren't more people across the globe 'enlightened' by it at the same time (assuming christianity is the ONE true religion for everyone?).
Why weren't other cultures commented on by name in the bible? |

I would say that it is because Christ was a man, his message was only heard by those who physically encountered him, and his life story was written down almost a century after his death, at which point conflicting theories of his life circulated and some became more popular than others.
Also, the Hebrew God for strange reason "chose" to rudely make himself known and interfere with his "chosen people", leaving the rest of the pegan world out to dry. |

I think this ideal is one of the main questions people have when considering christianity as a religion. It seems as though God in the OT seems to 'play favorites' with a certain group of people. It would seem that a religion of an all knowing & all powerful god would encompass the entire world with same/similiar stories & events & teachings. A religion made up by people (who don't know anything of other cultures, societies from around the world) would indeed make up a religion/god to interact only with their needs & issues.
It just doesn't make sense for a god, to be so 'into' ALL people to only speak to/off a few groups in a relatively localized area. |
