Okay I'm an atheist but this goes even beyond my atheism into my philosophy of absurdism.

IF God exists, why create us? He must have did it so he could have some fun right?

Or if you want to even go deeper, what is the purpose of our existance at all?

My atheism sense is tingling when I think about this. First it tells me that God can't exist because, besides the obvious reasons, there would be no reason to create us. But then why do we exist at all? There is no reason we just do.

What is the christian perspective on these questions?

Read Ecclesiastes for some quality philosophy on life. Basically, its early existentialism. Everything is vanity (without point), or a chasing after wind (a fruitless search), so it is good for a man to do what makes him happy, so long as it is good in God's sight (sinless acts). It says to eat and drink your fill, and be merry all the days of your life. It also condemns richness as worthless, for you can't take it with you.

However, there is very little in the Bible about it, but one important point becomes apparent. Thusly, that God has a personality, and is varying in what he does. Do not view God as an intangible singularity in perfectness, but as a supreme being, which humanity was based off of. We have personalities, he has one, too. Perhaps he wanted company. Another thing pointed out in Ecclesiastes is that wonderings about life take away from living life, and it won't matter either way.

Biological urges are purely sexual, since evolution has yet to fit us with urges beyond those that can be satisfied with contraceptives. Meaning, we only want to have sex, the emotional desire to have children is probably shared by God, and not biological. MJB raises a good point.

But still there are a lot of bad parents out there. The fact that a couple wants to have children is while not entirely biolgiical certaiinly playing a large factor here. You have to think that sexual reproduction is the only life factor not required for a person to live. The only purpose of it is to keep the species going.

I didn't understand that at all, can you rephrase the sentences and use commas?

Also, there are several Greek words for love: philia (brotherly love--Philadelphia), Eros (passionate love for a lover--Eros was the Greek name of Cupid), Storge (natural affection for parents to offspring), and then Agape (unconditional love, used in the Bible to show the way God loves us). God's love is much greater than that felt by your parents to you, according to the Bible. And think how much your parents love you--it's much more than that.

We exist to glorify God, as does all of creation. Granted, some parts perform that function rather better than others. I am not about to argue the point or to attempt to explain it... it's one of those points in which we won't get anywhere. lol.

But to create man to glorify his own existance... doesn't that make God insecure and vain?

People make artwork all of the time just to be doing it, for their own whims and just to... make something beautiful.

But true artists don't create work for the sake of being glorified for it.

And if God created us to be something beautiful, then why would he demand that we worship him, instead of letting us simply be... beautiful?

Exactly. True artists create for the joy of creating.

Quote: And if God created us to be something beautiful, then why would he demand that we worship him, instead of letting us simply be... beautiful?

Which is why he gave man free will. He does not force man to believe in him, or worship him. But he does say that if we want to have what he has, and be where he is, there is a way for us to get there.

God created humans to serve Him.

In a sort of strange way, that is one of the most arrogant things I think you can say.
