America has repeatedly shown they intervene when there is some sort of beneficial factor, whether it is to overthrow a communist regime, for fear of Soviet satellites, or the benefactor in the Iraqi War. (Oil, Halliburton, etc.) |

So what? The big dog will always be ridiculed by the underdog. The world isn't all rainbows, come back to reality. If the US let all of its interests whirl into a spiral of sh*t, then I'd be picking up the crumbs and the middle east would be watching "Iraqi Idol" on their 50" plasmas right now.
"With great power comes great responsibility." - Thank you Spidey
The US has been doing it for years, and a good example of that is the Monroe Doctrine from so long ago. |

Because it's not the American Way.
Many Western countries, especially the US, acts militarily in the interest of their upper class, regardless of the effects this has on whatever country they're invading/occupying/rescuing/whatever.
The west could leave everyone else alone of course, but it's not going to happen anytime soon. |

We will never correct the ill effects of our meddling with more meddling. Personally, I would make it the law of the land that we do not deal, politically or economically, with any nation that doesn't have free elections and basic human rights guarantees. If a nation wants to deal with the U.S., they need to show us they embrace these ideals, otherwise get lost.
It would hurt our economy short term, but ultimately more Americans would get back to work, more third world countries would develop independently and reach freedom and democracy on their own, and the end result would be increased national security both now and in the future. |
