Do you believe in karma that deals with magic (like the three-fold law)? Explain why or why not.

I personally think karma works in some ways (like what goes around, comes around). I personally don't think karma applies to magic though. I see it as, if you believe it's going to happen, it will.

Thoughts?

I very strongly believe in Karma.

You get what you give, threefold.

This is an interesting question. I do not believe in "instant karma" (just add water  ), but I do believe that there is some degree of justice that we can see, and perhaps some that we can not. Is it always proportional? I can not say, because I can not objectively rate the inherent "good" or "evil" of a particular deed, therefore what may indeed be a just punishment may seem completely unfair to me and so on.

I can not say if this principal applies to magic any more or less specifically than any other aspect of life, but in my mind, it would be dependent on the kind of magic being used. In other words what are you appealing to for your power... if the power comes from within ( chaos magic, etc) then I think that the law would apply normally...if the power is requisitioned from a higher source (OTO, .'., etc) then that source would be at least partially to "blame".

Voted No.

You give what you give and you get what you get, and most of the time the two ain't got nothin' to do with each other.

Doesn't mean that there aren't practical advantages to being good to others-- but that involves making sure that you're being good to the right people.

As a Chaote, I would say no. While a karmic like effect may happen after an event doesn't necessarily mean that it is some "three fold" law. It matters your belief system, what you may call karma I might call chance.

Now certain actions could create a backlash effect but I would'nt call it karma since performing the action than recreating the action could create different results.

Plus you have to wonder about your personal belief paradigm, if you believe in karma does that create the recipe for more occurances of actions having equal and opposite reactions?

Though I sometimes wonder since it seems that, under my moral standards, good people always get screwed. :)

Ever notice that when you dwell on the abuse someone gives you, the perps end up getting hurt ?

That, to me, is Karma. A person cant help keeping within what has affected them, and the people who affected them pay some price (wether be sickness, job loss, whatever).

I dont think that makes one a witch, or pagan.

I dont think that makes one a witch, or pagan. You are correct. Belief in Karma does not a pagan make. :-)

Karma applies to magic just as it does to any other action.
