|
|
It appears that the movie isn't being embraced on opening night. What is even more shocking is that many critics disliked Tom Hanks in his role & thought Ron H didn't do such a great job with the movie as a whole.
Al teast according to CNN:
http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Movies/05/17/da.vinci/index.html
Granted these are critics that, many times, have the exact opposite view of regular movie goers.
I wonder how regular movie goers will see it?
I wonder if it was TOO hyped?
What do you guys think?
Anyone palnning on going to see it?
I probably will, but not right away.
Do you guys REALLY think the book/movie was an attack on the church, or just a way to make some ( a whole bunch of ) $? |

Yeah, that's why I put this in my post
"Granted these are critics that, many times, have the exact opposite view of regular movie goers. "
I wonder if people will see it just for spite? Meaning, to basically 'thumb their noses' at the church & what it believes? |

| People will see it because people loved the book. That's all you need to know. Critics don't factor in to this equation because people really don't care what critics have to say. For crying out loud, The Transporter made a killing at the Box Office. Critics don't mean anything. |

Yes critics probably won't have much of an effect on the regular movie goer that just enjoys a good story |

Unless the critics are right, and this one doesn't tell a compelling story effectively. We'll see. This isn't the type of movie that Ron Howard is known for doing well.... |

True, there are times when the critics are right. Of course everyone likes different things. I am not goign to be waiting in line to see it for sure. Maybe once it goes to the dollar movies theaters around here I will check it out. :ah: |

This is one I'm going to trust to word of mouth, as well. |

Having never seen the back of the Constitution, I really don't know. |

Well, in the movie, it was on the back of the Declaration of Independence.
On a trivia note, there is a major plot flaw in National Treasure. They have Charles Carrol being the one to pass on the secret. Charles Carroll was one of the few Catholics who signed the Declaration (his cousin was John Carrol, an Archbishop of Baltimore, and one of the founders of the parochial school system in the U.S.). Catholics were not allowed to be Masons at the time. |

Meh, no more than the whole "Jurassic Park" thing was a plot to discredit Forensic Biologists, or the whole "Hunt for Red October" thing was a plot to discredit Cold War CIA activities. |

Jurassic Park was a cautionary tale about genetic engineering. |

Jurassic Park was a cautionary tale about genetic engineering. That dinosaurs might overrun some random tropical island that would otherwise be uninhabited? |

That the possibilty for unintended consequences increases exponentially with the complexity of the solution. |
