Are you on a proxy?

Agreed. Just add Opera to your exceptions list in Windows Firewall (or whatever firewall you are using). WHat error message do you get when you try to connect?

This is what I get when I try to go to a website. I'll check my proxy and firewall settings and let you know what happens.

I would too if I used an inferior web browser. But luckily for you (and all others who refuse to see the light) you can repent.
