| I just noticed that when I post, the time is marked an hour fast. So I went to my profile to check the timezone and it's GMT -7, which is my timezone. Which means the clock for the board is an hour ahead, apparently adjusted for daylight savings time. Why doesn't the board have separate timezones for DST and non-DST (for foreigners and Arizonans)? Is this a software limitation? |

Apparently the server automatically adjusts the clock itself instead of only shifting its timezone. The server is supposed to only shift its time zone when DMT comes around...instead it appears that it is actually changing GMT \/.

LOL, sorry. GMT = Greenwich Mean Time, a "universal" time based on a bunch of atomic clocks that calculate the time in Greenwich, London. GMT -7 is the timezone that is 7 hours behind GMT. When Daylight Savings comes, which it recently did, GMT does NOT change; all areas affected by Daylight Savings simply shift up one time zone...GMT -7 becomes GMT -6. The problem with this is that a lot of software uses the GMT convention, but incorrectly. Windows, for instance, changes the GMT time during Daylight Savings.
Comparing the PCF times to the real Greenwich time, PCF is an hour early...which means the server that hosts PCF changed the Greenwich time instead of shifting timezones, which screws up everything for people who aren't affected by Daylight Savings.
Which means that you'll have to go into the next timezone, GMT -8, to see the right time. |
