wHat do you mean democratic socialists? You mean democrats? They are generally for more government in economics, welfare, and support more "Fair trade" than "free trade". Overall, they lean closer to socialism.

Libertarians believe in minimal government. That is, the only thing government should be doing is protecting the rights of the citizens. We believe welfare and social security should be abolished, and private charities can fill the gap (Note: not all of us fully support this). We think people should be free to live their lives HOWEVER they please as long as it does not infringe on the rights of others-life, liberty, and property.

"Stances" of the Democratic Socialists of America

Democratic socialists basically want "democratic" control of the economy, which means a command economy commanded mostly by a democratic process. They also believe in enforcing social equality...

Platform of the Libertarian Party

Libertarians want the opposite--private ownership of property and the economy, and a move to a laissez faire system.

While Democratic Socialists see society as forming the individual, Libertarians see the individual as forming society...so Libertarians reject most forms of government intervention that Democratic Socialists support, like enforcement of social equality.

The two are almost total opposites.

Are you saying you made a new account? Cause that can get you banned. And please learn how to spell. Reading your posts are painful.

Just curious Socal, what do you think should be the primary role of government? Do you believe in positive rights (ie rights to health care, a "reasonable" wage, etc.?), do you believe in negative rights (ie rights to life, free speech, etc.?) or do you believe in both?

Before making a decision on what party should represent your views research a little more. I'll direct you to some overviews of libertarianism since you seem curious of that ideology.

http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/libertarianism/
http://www2.sjsu.edu/orgs/libertarians/libertarianism2.html

and there's also different branches of libertarianism, such as left-libertarianism, anarcho-capitalism, and geolibertarianism (which is what I believe in).

Cool, I think you made the right choice as your test results demonstrate....beware people may be a little harsh if you make too many typos.

Libertarians- Generally people who are for gun ownership, profit, and capitalism in general.

Democratic Socialists- Not sure this one makes much sense to me either...

I don't think making new accounts necessarily is not allowed...I think it's only disallowed when you try and do it to circumvent suspensions.

Anarchists are libertarians too really, at least as an anarchist myself I'd rather have a libertarian state than any other.
