I think it would be good if we had an option that displayed our political and religious alignments. I've seen other forums implement this with great success.

Secondly, why would this benefit us? We are supposedly addressing people's speicfic posts, not their affiliation. If you can explain why it would be "successful" at any other than facilitating trolling, I'm all ears.

it helps to establish the perspective by which a post is made. Often a big problem on forums is miscommunication as flat words can only display so much. Understanding a person's personal perspective often eliminates this type of miscommunication.

I would agree - it would be a "nice to have" so as to put a frame of reference around them and not pigeon hole them.

It would be ok if people actually took the time to read that info, but most people don't - and I think it'd be more work than it's worth. Just my two cents.

Just put the info in your sig if you want people categorize you.

eh anyway, I think it's a good idea because it explains the perspective of the one making the post, and furthermore those proud of their affiliations can display it to all...

at the same time those that do not want to bother with it can remain anonymous and not elect to reveal political or religious alignments.

So, just implement this and shut up. :P
