Religion is keeping Iran from passing reforms like making a more democratic government. People should not use what was last said at church to participate. If a religion were to have political power, it would be an infringement on our Constitutional basic rights.

People should use logic, morality, and wisdom when participating in democracy.

Some people and politicians do not use enough of all three.

Green you should know that many christians voted for Bush because Bush says he is born again. Even though the president does not act like a christian he still gets the radical right wing nutjobs support.

I doubt there is anyone, who is religious, who could honestly say that their religious beliefs don't influence their voting opinion.

And if their morality and wisdom relates to their religious views, they should be allowed to do that too.

The problem in Iran, is not religion in government, it's religion is government, and an almost total lack of religious freedom.

But you are also implying that people shouldn't be allowed to use their religious opinions in voting, etc.
