Come on guys, all they are doing is appealing to a very specific segment of the consumer base (namely gays, minorities, foreigners, and others that are or feel like they might be rejected by a church). Is a car company who advertises double anti-lock breaks on their vehicles "passing judgement" on those companies that don't have double anti-lock breaks?
"Consumer base" being the key phrase there..
Church-ism as nothing more than any other form of corporatism is the impression I got from watching these commercials.. |

| Churches are businesses. They are institutions whose first goal is self-preservation. Don't get me wrong; I like the UCC and have had nothing but good experiences with them. I have no problems with these ads or anything like that. Still, they are trying to attract a certain segment of the population, much like other churches are trying to attract other segments of the population (specifically those who are homophobic, racist, xenophobic, or want a church with a certain...character---as someone already mentioned, like a "country club"). |

Wasn't your mom a pastor at one of these churches?
The ironic thing about these “Christian” churches is they don’t even really believe the Gospel. It’s more of a psychology to them than faith. |

No. She was thinking of switching to UCC for a while, since the UMC appointment system is kinda harsh, but instead she is just going to be commissioned as a deacon instead. |
