I'd just like to wish everyone a happy Easter.
I too, am celebrating Jesus being killed and am eating many chocolate eggs. |

Well, Easter Sunday is more about Christ's Resurrection than it is about death..
Still, though, I've always wondered why they call it 'Good Friday'? That's the day that's more about death.. I've always thought it's wierd that it's called "good", but .. probably there's a reason. |

Ahhhh yes Easter,
Easter is the day that Jesus Christ died rose up three days later in the form of a giant bunny that hides eggs with candy in them and delivers them to children. God I love this holiday. |

Have you noticed how a lot of people are starting to call it Resurrection Day?
I like that name better. :-D |

How did the bunny and choclate get involved?
The bunny prehaps with the whole spring motif, and yeah eggs as well.
but how did the marketing men make the jump to chocolate? |

Just out of curiosity, how did the tradition of the Easter Bunny evolve? |

Yeah....it is a left over from Paganism. Now a days it's just something that is done for little kids to have some fun. |

I dont think the name needs changing but the attitude does. If we change Easter to Resurrection day we need to change Christmas to "Christ's Birthday".
But Resurrection day isn't that bad of a name. |

| It's really only the Germanic languages that call it "Easter", due to the above referenced Pagan similarities. In the Romance Languages I know it's called Pascha or something comparable, which is Latin for Passover, and symbolic of the "Paschal Mystery" that is the very core of the faith. |

Capitalism, baby! I'm sure somebody out there will buy and sell chocolate covered crucifixes. Anything to make a buck. |

I think the reason why they went from traditional eggs to chocolate eggs had something to do with a conspiracy brought about by the world wide dairy industry. Either that or the fact that they taste better.

If you listen to Christian radio or anything of the such...you'd notice that "Resurrection Day" is being used already. |

We did a committment ceremony for my daughter at church today. Quite pleased about that.
No matter what religious trappings it carries for you, it is a holiday about rebirth, and renewal, and the annual miracle of life reemerging from winter's deathly grasp. Even when I was an atheist, I always liked Easter. |
