“The Holocaust was an obscene period in our nation’s history. I mean in this century’s history. But we all lived in this century. I didn’t live in this century."
~ George W. Bush, letting slip his Nazi sympathies, 1995-09-15.
“Republicans understand the importance of bondage between a mother and child"
~ George W. Bush, making reference to some of the kinky things they do at Abu Ghraib.

“After standing on the stage, after the debates, I made it very plain we will not have an all-volunteer army."
~ George W. Bush, Daytona Beach, Florida, 2004-10-16

“If you want to build a big project and you can’t get insurance because of what the terrorists have done for [sic] America, you can put the project aside."
~ George W. Bush

Terrorism has been great for the oil industry. As a “side effect" of terrorism, there is a new Unocal pipeline through Afghanistan and America will soon control Iraq which has $10 trillion in oil reserves, second only to Saudi Arabia. Terrorism has also done booming business for the defense industry as well.

“They see the risks are high, the risk of being able to find a job or the risk of keeping the homeland secure."
~ George W. Bush

Bush worries all the time the poor might find jobs, but that’s a risk he has to take to save the fatherland.

“But here in Texas we took [trial lawyers] on and got some good medical — medical malpractice, which evidently had a few loopholes in it."
~ George W. Bush

Bush supports legislation to protect doctors from medical malpractice lawsuits. He meant to say “good medical malpractice legislation", not “good medical malpractice".

“The solid truth of the matter is, when you find — if you want to help heal the hurt, if you want to you hurt people — help people in pain, the best way to do so is to call upon the great strength of the country, which is the compassion of our fellow Americans."
~ George W. Bush

There is more to a person's intelligence than his or her ability as a public speaker. To declare a verbal faux pas or slipup as a freudian slip is ridiculous. One's ability to be elequant as a public speaker is not, in any way, indicative of one's intelligence or any ulterior motives.

How do you explain Bush's lack of interest in reading articles and his lack of inquisitiveness on major issues.

When was the last time we had a sitting President who had so much difficulty with the command of the English Language?

I'm afraid you must call it what it is, Bush has an Intelligence Deficit. He suffers with Dyslexia and Attention Deficit Disorder.

But, I speak from over a decade of experience when I say that one's public speaking ability is NOT, at all, indicative of intelligence.

First of all, the contexts on which you quote him are false. He never said "FEELS GOOD" during the Iraq war, and if he did it wouldn't be because he likes war.

This thread isn't funny at all.

How true. But by inability to speak publicly one usually implies mumbling, bad pronunciation, lack of implied punctuation etc. Now you seem to imply that in the inability to speak well publicly should include moronic statements too. Eloquence is in most cases the result of being erudite, a condition that is clearly not afflicting Mr. Bush. Now he may very well poses intellect, but I ask what good does it do without knowledge.

By the way is this not the humor thread? So why did you feel necessary to comment on other then the fun factor of the post? If you did not think it was funny it is perfectly all right.

Firstly, for those of you who have their heads stuck in the sand and have no idea what politics is all about, lemme fill you in on a little secret:

polititians aren't always the brightest people in the world

If I'm looking for the next Einstein of the world, I'm not gonna go looking in a crowd of polititians. Polititians are good at one thing, and one thing only--getting elected. And in that regard, Bush is a bit better than some other polititians whom we won't have to mention...

If however, a person basically cannot speak correctly at all, and with great consistency makes elementary verbal blunders, it very well could indicate a high degree of probability that they, well, aren’t overly bright.
