At the Manchester Spring Forum, Tory activists were given a leaflet, with written forward by David Cameron, containing advice which they could follow to show the party has truly 'changed'.

These are:

Take the bus when you can
Get to know your neighbours better
Pick up one piece of litter from the street everyday
Re-use your plastic bags when you go to the shops
Switch to energy efficiency light bulbs at home
Reduce your thermostat by 2 degrees
Support your local shopkeepers
Don't overfill your kettle
Fill out a donor card
Give blood.

So, if anyone wanted to know how the Conservative Party will improve the country, they need wait no more. The only problem is, I tend to forget to reuse plastic bags when I go shopping. Seems my conservative credentials have been shot to pieces

A friend of mine went there. He won a bottle of whisky signed by the great Dave-O himself!

I do most of these as a matter of course - does this mean I'm a closet Conservative? :( :( :(

PS shouldn't people be doing these things because of social conscience and not the party line? God I hate crap like this!!!

Take the bus when you can - I refused to take a bus. Principally because the conditions are insanitary and my public transport system is quite honestly, hopeless.
Get to know your neighbours better - I am very fond of my neighbours who I have known for years.
Pick up one piece of litter from the street everyday - Why should I? Why should I pick up people's rubbish who are too lazy to seek for litter bin a few yards away? Leave that to a road sweeper.
Re-use your plastic bags when you go to the shops - What? They are useless as well. You put a couple of light items in, then the bag rips into two parts.
Switch to energy efficiency light bulbs at home - I am not changing 80+ light bulbs we have at home. Far too temperamental.
Reduce your thermostat by 2 degrees - I could do. What significant will I gain? Infinitesimally small. Better to benefit the extra two degrees.
Support your local shopkeepers - I do, indeed. We have a close contact and are very fond of our community.
Don't overfill your kettle - Never occurred me not to. Saves me having to add water at future references, I guess. What about, use a teapot instead?
Fill out a donor card - I did think about this when I came to re-new my driving licence. The trouble was, I'm naturally unlucky and decided to refrain in order to play safe.
Give blood - I think my blood is pretty unhealthy at the moment. Might not be wise.

Trust me, I'm conservative. Those procedures above are far too conservative me. Hey, I try not to wear a tie. That is at least conservative somewhere.
