FYI, this topic will probably be shut down pretty soon. No linking to another site is a rule, I believe - at least if that is the entirety of your post.

not necessarily. there's no guarantee you'll make any money out of it, especially off one site.

Yeah, but this is more appropriately called advertising, not merely linking... Not trying to put you out of place or anything, just thought you should know.

Yeah I've got a few, not making significant dollars, but if you get a bunch of sites it can add up. the pros (who sometimes pay over a hundred grand for a domain name) can make several hundred a day from these type of ads. I figure if I can build up enough sites over the next 20 years it might produce some decent retirement income. In any case it doesn't take a lot of time and the cost per domain name is about $6/year. I host them all on one ftp site so the hosting cost is negligable.
The concept is known as virtual real estate.

About how much money would one make off one site, in a given year, assuming 100,000 hits?

I've been getting about $14/1000 page views so at 100,000 hits per year you'd make $1400.

Getting that many hits is no small task. My best site gets about 14 hits a day
Actually it's my wife's : http://www.bellydancecolorado.com

The key is getting a great domain name. I read about the guy who bought Candy.com for $180,000. He sometimes makes $300/day from that page alone.

Interesting idea. One can even make these links invisible. I imagine you could make each of your sites link to each other.
