My dog had a litter of puppies a couple of months ago. One was still born,( or was dead by the time I got home from work)

My 8y.o. daughter found the dog was having puppies and then picked up the dead one to show me that it was dead. I told her to put it down, and not to mess with it.

Either way, I decided to give it a shallow grave. I dug a little hole and my daughter went to the hole and I scooped the puppy up with the end of the shovel to put it in it's grave.

It was actually a very cute puppy, (cuter than the pups that lived :roll: ) and I pointed out to my daughter that it looked like it was sleeping.

Then the little :twisted: came out in me. I flipped the puppy towards my duaghter who started running away. She then picked up the puppy to toss back at me while laughing, and I told her to just put it in the hole, which she did.

A found out, she recently dug up the pup to see what it looked like. I asked her what she found, she said bones.

So was what I did demented? I don't think so as she seems to be well adjusted to the fact that it's just a dog, no different than a dead bird, rat, ect that has shown up in the back yard from time to time.

uh, what the is your point? you like to throw dead puppies at your amused daughter? she is still "well adjusted" even after this, its hardly a traumatic event for her since she laughed is it?

She old enough to understand the concept of "dead"?

If she is, it sounds like she's got a pretty good handle on it. Good thing she got to see it early, and her first exposure was something a little more distant than close kin.

Why would you bother making a grave? Wasn't it so that you can teach your daughter the importance of life and to have respect for the dead including animals?

I don't get your logic...

the point was, I made sure that she realized that it was just a dog and NOT a death that is as important as a kin death. No different than a dead rodent. Just because it's 'cuter' than a dead rodent, doesn't mean jack to me, and I'll teach that way to my kids.

because, if everyone agrees with everyone, there is nothing to discuss. Convince me to stop, that's your goal right now, but criticizing my life isn't doing it. Keep trying though

leon, posting that original post was a very petty act.

so, you have different ethics than some people on this board and you want to teach those ethics to your daughter. who cares? children are impressionable and many cannot tell right from wrong, so raise your kid however you want, and when she has kids you can be proud to tell them "one day,me and your mom threw a dead puppy around the backyard" and i am sure they will be proud of your demonstrative values.

you view your position and your rights as human to be different than that of some people here, simple as that. you will not change our opinion and you know your OP will not lead towards any sort of healthy debate.

if you really want to debate the issue do, but stoking a fire and provoking a backlash is not the way to do it.

Leon, your post was inflammatory. It served no basis other than to cause a reaction.

Leon sounds like a lonely old man

looking for attention, wether it be negative or positive.

He sees that he gets more attention with the negative, so we'll keep feeding the attention starved for as long as it suits them or until this person gets booted.

and that's the point of this thread... People are getting more worked up over a dead dog and a twisted joke than they do with genocide. I still think it has to do with my theory of "the cuter the animal, the more people protest"

I tossed a dead roach at her once, as well. The activists didn't call me mental there. Why not? Oh, that's because roaches aren't cute like puppies

Well Leon, people love to piss and moan at the smallest things. To hear them talk about it, one would think you had gone to the graveyard, dug up Grandma’s decomposed carcass, tied strings around it’s limbs, and danced it around like a marionette for your daughter. I picked up a dead chicken once and chased a girl with it for amusement. I suppose now I am a sick monster. I should have wept in agony that the chicken was dead, and had a full funeral for it I suppose. It was simply a dog, and it was just an amusing little joke. No big deal. Nowadays, you can go almost a week and find not a single human with a sense of humor. I think it’s been indoctrinated out of them.
