Which is why many Chinese citizens in the Xinjiang, Tibet, Qinghai, and Gansu regions has formed collectives that are self-sufficient with their own production of food and materials.

Also, the United States would already export our grain to China because we are dependent on that trade as well. Nearly 10% of all American exports are agricultural products, and our main trade partners are Canada and Mexico, with only 4.3% of all exports going to China. (Source: CIA World Factbook)

China seems to be doing alright without heavy dependence on American trade...

Your kidding right, look I'm no economist and I haven't looked it up on your site there, but if I am not mistaken the USA is China's #1 customer. In other words China exports (sells) more stuff to us than any other country in the world and probably by alot would be my guess.

So to determine China's dependance on the USA you would want to see what percentage the US is of CHINAs exports and what percentage China is of US Imports. It is in the news all the time that we (US) has a trade imbalance with them which I assume means we import (buy) more than we export (sell).

So I think you may have made an innacurate conclusion about China's trade level with the US.

i know that there is a trade imbalance and that we are the #1 customer, but if we stopped trade with them, both countries would suffer severely but I belive more so China becuse of its large population.
