Why do they hate each other so much? Is it because of our past record or is it more than that? Prejudice or envy?
I'm a Korean and I have several Korean friends. One of my friends explained it to me as this: Koreans don't hate the Japanese, they hate Japan. There was this one f*cked up picture of a child drawing a picture of stabbing Japan. Actually you can't tell the difference between a Korean and a Japanese.
Any Japanese people reading this, whats your opinion about Koreans and Korea in the present? Now lets not get prejudice but let us be realists here.
For example a stereotypical view of a young black male in an urban area such as Camden, Bronx etc. is that he is in a gang blah blah. Personally I reject such views but I cannot ignore the fact that a majority (compared to others of course) holds that stereotype even subconciously.
Now just because anyone is about to say anything about Koreans or Japanese people or any race or nationality for that matter as long as presented in a respectful manner is not prejudice but voicing out FACTS in what views may be present whether positive or negative.
I thank you for reading this all out and hope to hear from you. |

Is the hate like US - Canada hate, or other neighborly hate or is it much more? I would put it at neighborly hate and WW2 by what you told me but I could be wrong. |

Japan controlled Korea for quite a long time before that. it also tried to conquer Korea several times during the middle ages and colonial period. |

Well, now I see the animosity. But that changes nothing, I tell yaz, cause while I'm an avid TaeKwonDo student and blackbelter, I will stick with teriyaki. :-D |

Yeah Japan was the tyrant of Asia prior to WWII
In fact Korea wasn’t even a country more of a controlled state of Japan. Same with countries like Vietnam. |

I am married into a Korean Family and they have no hang ups about Japan. They were there during the occupation and suffered at the hands of the Japanese but they never speak ill of Japan and infact vacation there frequently.
Perhaps it is because they have been living in Canada for 30+ years and have been able to distance themselves from the old ideals.
The fact they allowed their daughter to marry a dopey white guy suggests that they are fairly enlightened. I think your attitude toward any "culture" or "people" has everything to do with your situation and experience. |

Check this out, Japanese and Korean tensions are heating up. According to this there is some anti-Korean manga in Japan.

My, Koreans really really HATE Japan. I was so surprised, a bunch of Christian singers and pastors from Korea are staying in my house. I introduced the topic and one of them muttered,"jokbali" which is a derogatory term for japanese that literally means pig foot.
Though, the Japanese share quite a lot of animosity for the Koreans as well. They feel that Koreans and Chinese are unsophisticated and live with a superiority complex.
While Koreans despise the Japanese with an inferiority complex for being invaded.
Especially with the World Baseball game, Ichiro, was the subject of all Korean hate. |

| well, i'm only half japanese but i'm very close to my japanese relatives in tokyo and all but one is ok with korea. only my grandfather, a ww2 veteran, doesn't like korea.. what he admits is he hates the food and he thinks that they're trying to be like japan (building up electronics and auto industries, getting strong u.s. relations) but it most likely goes deeper than that. but then again he's generally crabby about everything. anyway, at my school there are a lot of koreans and chinese people (immigrants) who seem to give me evil eyes and cold shoulders.. for no reason. and my last name is obviously japanese so.. why do they hate me. plus, this korean guy started an "anti-jap society" facebook group... with a membership of almost 40 other korean and chinese students. i don't know if it's a joke or not (i don't know this guy personally). why can't we all get along. especially when this conflict has nothing to do with people in my generation.. |

wow, thats a bit too far. personally, i don't like the japanese government. the ppl are fine cept those that are racist. then i just get a bit pissed off back. i dunno but u could tell that even the japanese japanese in Japan are racist. we cant do anything, we both hate each other.
its interesting tho to kno what japanese ppl think. my grandparents jus talk about the comfort women corps, the cultural assimilation, and especially the burning of christian churches. my grandparents dont like the japanese cus of that, its a shame. i jus want to end this hate. shame but i dont think it'll end soon cus the koreans koreans in my church are rather racist. truly a shame. |

| (South) Korea and Japan are both countries with a great deal of ingenuity and invention. They produce some truly amazing things, because of which I have an immense respect for their relative cultures. Animosity between the two is a hangover from the past, which, of course, is further and further away. Whatever hatred there is now will surely fade away in the future as I certainly can't see future conflict igniting nor any reasonable emotion between the two but one of mutual respect. |

I think it because Japan only like themselves, they don't have an open mind in traditiona culture,Japan seemed like a kid to get a gun in early 20th century.
you know, japan acted as Monglians or Locusts...
remember the animation movie <ants>?, the Locusts come and eat everything.
Japan did the same things, but his object is Chinese and Korean culture, they tried a lot to wipe off culture mark of these new colonis (northeast of China,Korea,China Taiwan...)
any great civilization can't easily forgive this "culture destruction" crime.
p.s,an empire is born to be,like Roma,ancient China,Britain,now U.S,
Japan and Germany were too eager to get sth. not deserved, but Japan still don't realize this key point...
that's why China and Korea dislike their odd neighbour. |

I really like japanese culture personally,
but the more its' beauty moved me,the more Paranoia I could feel.
I think Japan was inspired by "signal or art" too much to create their own nationality when they systemly imported China "Tang"dynasty 's culture.
ancicent Chinese culture was not only the sun rising japan islands, but also the nightmare of "Great Japan" dream. |

What people don't tell you is that many of those Japanese and Korean electronic brands have for years been using cheap chinese labor for manufacturing over the past few decades. Yeah, they were innovative alright, but done on the backs of Chinese laborers. |

Koreans were raped, treated like slaves, and often attempted rebellion. Not calling them 'anti-Japanese' during the war would be like not calling those on their way to the gas chambers in Germany, not anti-Nazi. |
