:) BEAZLEY FLUNKS LESSON OF BLAIR

Tony Blair's address to the Australian Parliament was not only the address of a statesman, in these perilous times when the security and economic prosperity, in the context of a global economy, of Western countries, are threatened by the suicidal fanatics of fundamentalist Islam, but, also, a lesson brimful with realism and political acumen delivered to his Labor colleagues in Australia.

What are the prospects, that the up till now perceptively fallow soil of Australian Labor on the issue of the war in Iraq, now that it has been sown with Blair's seeds of prudence, a tree of political sagacity will spring up, from which Labor will reap a bounteous yield?

Ruefully, however, it's obvious that Blair's seeds have been scattered on Labor's barren soil. Under the blustering, feeble, and unimaginative leadership of Kim Beazley, the Labor Opposition will remain politically and intellectually blind to the great dangers that would emanate from an imprudent and hasty withdrawal from Iraq - which is the present adamant policy of Labor - that Blair so cogently and clearly highlighted in his address. Prime Minister Blair with characteristic insight stated, that no matter how tough it's to be engaged in the Iraq war, 'we have to tough it out. This is a time for courage to see it through'. And he continued, 'the danger with America today is not that they are too much involved. The danger is they decide to pull up the drawbridge and disengage'. Clearly implying, that only America, among all other nations. can defeat global terror, which so many of his counterparts in Europe are doggedly refusing to acknowledge.

Regrettably, this instructive lesson of Tony Blair is being flunked by his Labor colleagues in Australia.
