Quote: Its the feederband code... I think you know what I was getting at...If not, doing what is right is the basics of it...Sometimes your instincts would not be the right thing to do... Fair enough. But, what are you basing your version of "right" and "wrong" on? You are so close to saying it...
Also, I would say many many instincts were completely wrong morally and factually. Most human instincts are self serving, and other instincts, such as the natural protection instincts, are just plain incorrect in most cases.

Hey Feederband, your extra little title line declares, "There is no God..."

How do you know that?

What belongs in place of the "..."?

Do you mean, "There is no God that I know of, because I've never had any reason to believe in him and never met him?"

How's about you put, "like Jehovah!" :-D

This line of business gives you a lot of time to think about life and death ( i work for a mortuary/crematory).

Quote: Your killing me ...What is the answer your looking for.....What am I so close to saying.... ok ok. You are basing your version of morality, off of your cultural standard for morality (in the west i.e. judeochristian morality). The short answer is that your moral code appears to be nothing more than "do unto others" with Jesus removed from the equation. So you share an almost identical idea of morality that most religious people do, you just don't use religion to get there...the agnosticism is strong in this one I can feel it!
Still if you agree that their version of right and wrong (simple uncorrupted version that is) is correct, then you are in at least partial admission that THEY are correct, and perhaps there is more to this picture than you have thus far determined. If simple logic and reason were the factors contributing to your morality, there would be a logical reason for every belief you had

Well I've always said I appreciate the laws and morality's of Christian ways..So in a since they are based on this..But with the religious parts thrown out the window...

a mortuary? tee-hee, that's awsome.......

as to your second part, I totally agree, many non-religious people still can't detach themselves from the religious morality based in our culture....*cough*CarlSagan*cough*.....although I think that more and more people can detach themselves.

If I had no faith and had to pick a cultural-morality to follow I'd either go with Viking or Achean.....very epic, lots of feasting, mighty temper tantrums :-D

No it just means the way they think of right and wrong it a good moral code even though most of them don't practice it....

Well for me it is all about life or death...You see death is alot closer around the corner for me than most people on this forum...

I think thats what attracted me to this forum...I guess just making sure I didn't make a mistake in my ways of thinking...But so far I have not seen anything otherwise.
