OK. . . so since one study demonstrated that prayer isn't effective, how about one showing that you live longer by going to church? I'm sure all the atheists will be in here ASAP trying to figure out how they can reconcile their positions.

"Cynthia Mann's aunt said the girl had just dropped off another child and was taking the rest of the children home "to get ready to go to church."
Here is a group of kids that were going to goto church...I guess they wern't part of the study because they didn't live longer...

Shouldn't you Christians want to die as quickly as possible so that you can reap the benefits of your salvation? |

meh, after 40 life s*cks anyways. Besides, I can think of a million things I would rather do on my Sunday then go to church. |

| Oh for crying out loud, I can cite studies that show that as Ice Cream sales increase, so do murder rates, therefore Ice Cream causes Murder. Both of these two threads are ridiculous. |

You really don't get it do you.
The benefits of salvation begin the day you believe. |

No, I don't. I neither want nor need salvation; if there is your God, I will take responsibility for my own sins. The fault is my own, and I would find it morally reprehensible to transfer that to someone else, no matter who they are. Personal responsibility. The kids of our generation could learn from my example.
The benefits of free thought begin the day you believe. We could play the pithy phrase game all damn day, John. Thought you'd probably win... I don't have a book to use. |

a strong corrolation between church going and living longer, doesn't necessarily mean that church going is the cause. i would think that regular church goers live a rather 'clean' life. for example they probably barely touch alcohol. |

You most certainly have to choice to take responsibility for your own sins.
Many many will. *shrug*
Although, I disagree with your opinion on the matter. I know that you really do want the vacuum in your life filled, that only God can fill. |

Not if they're Catholic :-)
I do agree, however, that a good bit of the reason that church-goers live longer is due to lifestyle. Married people also tend to live longer. |

| Correlation = causation fallacy anyone? Did you look at economic factors, family health histories, etc.? Of course not. Make the data apply to your nutjob hypothesis and foist it upon the public as "science!" |

Which vacuum is that? I hate it when the vacuum gets filled, the lady always makes me empty it. |

John hit the nail on the head; it's not just pie in the sky when you die.
Most Christians admit that they'd rather be with Jesus in Heaven than here, but you guys are keeping us here, because we have a mission to do first and you're it. |

So if everybody were saved there'd be no need for this world? Wouldn't it be logical to just all die out and not reproduce? After all, those children might get funny ideas like they don't need to be saved. Please. There's got to be another reason. |
