| There should be some forum rules regarding this. Some users have animated GIFs in their signatures totaling around 2 megabytes... |

I agree. I feel for anyone who is still on dial up. |

| Okay. If anyone is still on a dial up connection, TOUGH. Turn off the sigs in your profile. Why should everyone be denied Alizee's a$$-shaking goodness, because some people are stuck in the past? |

You know that whole thread that degenrated into an argument over analingus? Well she is definitely the poster woman for I'd love too. |

I...
1) ... am not using dialup... and I honestly doubt any members do
2) ... see the text way before the pictures are fully loaded
And yet, yes, it really bothers me. I don't expect to load 2 megs of images to just browse one textual page in a forum.
And as for Alizee, I agree that no one should be denied those (nearly-divine) animations, but political forums are not the place. Not to mention you put two animations there. |

| Fine. I took one out. Loads pretty fast on my connection. Of course I am using the superior web browser (Opera) so that almost certainly has something to do with it. |

Actually, the rules are the rules.
Due to some issues dial up users are having, we ask that you please reduce the size of your image in your signature to 10000 bytes or 400x200 as we try our best to keep all happy!
Avatars should be no more than 130x130
Thank you!

And your gif Protostar is 1442415 bytes too big. Normally we are reasonable with this and allow some leeway, and admittingly we look more at shape than data size, but the rules are the rules. |

I agree with this.
You need to cater to as many people as possible. You need to build your site for about anyone on the internet. However...
56k is not internet. Period. You can't cater to Commador 64s or Apple 2Es anymore, and at some point, we have to go forward. If you're still on 56k at this point, it's hopeless. Some people you just can't cater too, they are too far behind. It's 2006. C'mon. |

there are still places in the country where you can't get anything but 56k. I couldn't until three months ago, that said if they don't like it they should turn off the signatures. |

Actually Proto, my real reason is that I can't ever debate with you because I end up just staring at your signature instead of writing a reply... so I cheated
Oh man, I miss Igotmilk™'s signatures... |
