| So now we have Scotland and Wales flags (thanks for them) but it appears no England flag. Now i'm back home I want to change my profile flag from Wales to the UK - can't I change that to England instead? Danke |

That's the flag of Great Brittain, not England. The English flag has a white background and the St George cross in the middle (which is a red cross).

Actually that's the flag of the United Kingdom. "Great Britain" is an island, not a nation. |

As far as I understand it there are two theories:
1) As Nico said, it is the larger of the British Isles, reffered to in order to distinguish it form Ireland.
2) It was used as a term by the inhabitants of France to distinguish it from Brittany (Bretange). |
