In the evolutionist theory, I'd kill the first "mutant" with posable thumbs.

In the fundamentalist theory, I'd kill Adam.

In theory X, I,d kill the first man.

This way, I'd get rid of all of the problem people...

Seriously though, in most cases (ignoring the possibility that time would fix itself) it would make no difference. Killing Gavrilo Princip (who has been attributed with causing WW1 by killing Archduke Franz Ferdinand) would have barely altered the events of WW1 for the most point. WW1 was destined as a result of Bismark's international policy(which was genius). Nonetheless, the same policy would have been developed eventuallly, and the same sequence would have progressed, only later on in the future. The same can be said except for truly unique acheivements, where an individual does the incredible or comes up with a revolutionary idea/ideas that may not/likely would not have been conceived (Napoleon, Confucius, as examples, respectively)

There are no men that fit that requirement that I feel deserve killing, unless someone knows who originally postulated the idea the world is not flat. It's some guy a few centuries BCE. Although it had to come out, anything to preserve the America's from the destruction of "civilized man" a little longer....

First let me open by saying this:
I havn't had much time to read ALL of the posts here but let me say, if you said Hitler you need a better sense of imagination. Who would you REALY want to kill? Me... I would go back to biblical times and shoot the devil, I mean have you ever read the bible? Satan is EVERYWHERE. Then I'd take over hell. HA HA HA HA! :twisted:

But on a serious note. One of the theory, the one I believe in, about time travel is that time is vast and uncontrollable. There supposedly is millions upon millions of "world lines" these "world lines" are events slightly or drastically changed. For example. If I wanted to go back and talk to Jesus, I might end up on a world line where Jesus was never born. Of course this belief pisses off bible nuts and scifi fans alike. So in theory, if I went back in time to right before I got in the time machine and shot my past self, there would be no time altering affects. Kind of like getting in a giant clock and arriving at a living movie. If I wanted to go back to the second grade and 'take care' of a much hated bully of mine, I might come out at a world line where I'm good friends with my bully or at a world line where I murdered him and hid his body in the crawl space under my floor. But I don't have any one in the crawl space under my floor for real... :shifty:

This is one theory. Still it would be fun to go back to the dark ages with a tommy gun and rain down some of 'gods wrath'

Actually there were seven members of the group, but Gavrilo Princip was the only one to succeed.

Seven? I heard four. Well, alright. Then bank it 6 times. Yeah, I knew only one succeeded. But, killing him could set off a chain reaction of unknown events that could end with any of the other six shooting Ferdinand. So, still.

Gavrilo was also the last in the line, Franz was very dumb to continue on after several exposed attempts before. Nonetheless, Gavrilo is the only one that would have required "taking care of," assuming we know about everyone involved in the plot. Which isn't a safe assumption.
