Many countries exist separately from other countries because of different beliefs or doctrines. I have a scenario for beings to ponder. What if this planet was divided with one hemisphere populated by herbivores/vegetarian/vegans and the other hemisphere populated by carnivores/cannibals/omnivores/meat-eaters
What if one hemisphere was wholly vegetarian, focusing on agriculture and producing and appreciating vegetation and crops, which would help the atmosphere with vegetation/flora's ability to filter/circulate air, as well as other abilities. Creatures called animals would not be eaten. Do you think "animal" creatures behavior and aggression would change knowing that their loved ones were not massacred and born for human consumption?
What if one hemisphere was wholly fellow flesh creature-eaters, producing their fellow creature family for food, Feeding off of each other, Paying money for carcasses to eat. These beings are omnivores/carnivores/.
How do you think the societies would progress and differ from each other over a hundreds or thousand of years? Consider variables such as pollution, ethics, political organization, military, technology, biofuel, oil, culture, religion, reincarnation, etc....
Do you think there should be a vegetarian/vegan country? Wouldn't it be interesting to see how it would progress and how it would develop? |

interesting.
what if you tried to become a vegetarian and see how you progress in comparison to canibals known as humans?
this experiment would be much easier to achieve..... |

| I'd live on the border between the hemispheres so I could have lettuce and a pickle on my burger. |

Yeah, talk about overpopulation on the border. A big ring of cities around the world. |

On the other hand, maybe I spoke too soon. The Vegetarian hemisphere would have all of the marijuana and tobacco plants. They would be like the Arabs of smokables, instead of Arabs of Oil.

:-D
Okay okay.
Isn't there already some vegetarian culture ( tribe) someplace that we could examine and extropolate to see what might occur on a wider scale? Don't know.
But somehow I sense that the good Lord gave me these incisors and just the right ph of mass protein dissolving stomach acid for a reason. |

If you compare the average vegan diet to the average meat eater , a vegan will use 16 times less energy/resources than a meat eater, therefore providing a more sustainable environment.
The average vegan will be healthier, too. I have yet to meet an overweight vegan. Considering a huge proportion of cancer is diet related and also a host of other diceases, meat eaters are a bit of a strain on the healthcare system.
Even the World Health Organisation published a report saying that nothing would be of more benefit to the issue of general health, than the proposal that people either cut down on meat and diary consumption or become vegetarian or vegan altogether.
Isnt it funny that people use humour as a disguise when they cannot put forward a reasonable arguement/or are frustrated with the truth. |

ha!!! you just proved my point.....(about the humour/frustration thing)
protein can be obtained from many, many sources both from vegetables and nuts seeds and soya and tofu .. the list goes on......
Harvesting meat is bad for the environment and unless you can personally kill an animal i hardly think its ethical that you claim pork and steak is good....yep tastes great but see you in 50 years......
Man has k9s... hmmmmmm....., we have arms too, shouldnt we live in the trees? We have crazy sexual appetites and urges , does that mean we should give into these too and just do as we feel?
I suggest you stop digging that hole or you wont get out.... |

Come for a walk with me up in the north woods this winter... We will be gone a month.... All food will be obtained while on our walk... Meaning we have to Hunt Gather....
You would not last 2 weeks eating the flora you find and will be begging me for some of my hunted meat...
It is only by the comforts offered by society that allows you to live the unnatural life as a vegetarian.

who even said i was a vegetarian?
your arguement makes me laugh.... comforts offered by society?
Do you really think thats valid? Are you defending your pride as a meat eater or actually participating in a discussion?
Do you think it is easier to run around chasing animals , than harvesting a crop grown in your own garden? hmmmm....
And even if your point that it is a societal comfort to be a vegetarian is true it doesnt actually prove anything. Thats like saying "you wipe your ass with toilet paper only cause its a comfort of society" not because you ACTUALLY CAN. please reply again and i'll print this it out and show it around its turning out to be real funny!!! |

Laughing from the comforts given to you by society? How fitting.
Should I take your personal attacks as a sign of defeat? Or should I take your threat of printing this out and showing it to all your tree hugging weenie friends as a sign to turn tail and run? How silly.
Man is an omnivore by nature. Eating meat is a good thing as it completes the food chain. If we all stopped eating meat we would have to kill animals for thier own good as overpopulation would become rampant. (google "deer overpopulation" for a lesson in the cycle of life) Your short sighted selfishness has made you fail to see your bigger connection to this planet and the natural cycle of life. Eating meat is most neccessary.
Come for that walk with me sometime (this year I am doing it in April) and you will be salivating for some venison.....  |

more misunderstandings on your part...........
i am laughing at your arguement, not at the comforts of society ( see above)
How can you see that as a threat , dont have any tree hugging friends and i am not even a vegetarian.
I never said we should all stop eating meat , neither did the W.H.O
humans have ultimately failed the planet , look around you. If you think I am being short sighted you are a perfect example of a Hypocrite.
My bigger connection to the planet has made me realise that animals are ill treated the modern process of mass production of meat for consumption, benefits no one except the companies that ply you with endless ads.
Do you think fish are in overpopulation? some species in certain areas are practaically depleted. will take this up with you tommorrow as this internet cafe is closing here in Thailand |

Perhaps then you should put the bong down.

Then what is your point?

Explain my hypocrisy.... Are you sure of the meaning of the word?

Yes it is funny that people use humour-what an astute remark!
I saw a guy doing that over in the other thread. Hilarious, he was. I saw another guy doing it when he was talking to a total retard that he didn't want to directly insult-man, that guy could be on teevee! |

Nope. Don't want separate countries because that would separate me from my family.
I am a vegetarian. There is very little relationship between vegetarianism and politics or viewpoints on the environment or the military. And crops must be protected from animals. It would not be a perfect world.
But in a vegetarian world, there would be too many animals wouldn't there? And some of them are predators on humans. |

No; further, I don't think it's accurate to use the term "loved ones" when discussing animals.

I think the vegetarian society would commit mass suicide. ;)

Antarctica is free, I hear.

Not really. In all honesty, I doubt there'd be any huge difference. |
