I hope you do not mind my asking you this question, but I have been having an ongoing debate with another individual at another board. Could you please explain was taqiyah is?
To my knowledge, does this not mean a person can deny their religious belief if their life or their family's life is in danger? That Allah knows your heart, and judges you according to your heart?

I don't know about this issue that much, but I'll give you what I know.
Taqiyyah, according to some members on this board, is a doctrine of instilling fear, but I think some of the other Muslims can help you on that one.
Taqwa means fear of God and piety. It is sometimes confused with the above word.

Tiqiyah is something that the Shi'ites believe in. the Shii'tes believe that it is alright to do or claim to believe what your religion prohibits you from doing or believing if you do it to save your life, money or dignity. the Shii'tes use the Tiqyah even when they are among other muslims if they fear that being identified as a member of the shii'te sect might harm them or that poeple might refuse to socialize with them... Tiqyah is like an obligation from the view point of Shi'ites...they even use it if they think that they can't reach a certain goal if people knew the truth about them...
it is something that sunnis and other types of muslims condemn and find hypocritical and deceitful...how do you expect to keep your dignity if you don't have enough courage to declare what you believe in?

if he was asking about the that piece of cloth that muslim men wear ..that you answered him... if he was asking about the Shii'tes belief in tiqyah ..then I answered him..
thats the problem when arabic words are written with english letters...lol

Be truthful. There is a very good reason that folks utilizing this method are in danger of losing their lives and need to lie. You only told half the story.
You can see this tactic being deployed in the Middle East forum quite often. |

I believe that you think that way cap'n because deep down you think that prophet Muhammed was influenced by the devil. So you think that Islam is an evil religion so that means we must be evil and we lie and we kill and the teachings and guide lines are twisted. But whats amazing is that you wont any such thing if you really read the Koran or some Islamic books with a neutral mind. |
