Political Crossfire Forums

To clarify. You have entire forums dedicated to:
Economics
Abortion
Creationism
Religion (separate from the Creationist forum)
Those are all issues which are of primary importance to Conservatives. Some would even argue that giving "Creationism," a forum sort of puts a rubber-stamp on it, implying that it is a discussion of merit.

Meanwhile, Animal rights\The Environment are conglomerated. And Gay and Lesbian issues are a sub-forum.

It's not totally controlled by Conservatives, as I'm aware that there are Liberal moderators (or at least, there were, in the past). So, why does the forum have a Conservative lean? Or am I wrong?

There are forums for these things because there are TWO sides of an arguement. Just because the forum exists doesn't mean it exists for a specific political party. To my knowledge,

The abortion forums were created because P'n'G was flooded with threads otherwise.
The religion various religious forums were created because apparently the old religion forum was to dominated by christian threads, and the other religions deserved representation (Why I don't exactly know, make a forum so that you can have a place to gather without debate, weird.)
The creationism forum is there because there was a popular demand for it. It's been here longer than I have, but I would immagine people kept on starting threads about it in P'n'G, so a forum was made specifally for it.
The GBL issue is a societal issue, that's why it's in the society forum.
Animal rights and the environmental issues are very closely related, not to mention when they were seperate neither go enough posts per day to constitute wasting the space back when the database was a bit more limited.

Oh, and unlike your thread in the lounge, this one was nice because I didn't have to PM or wait for a response as to why you think that.

You're wrong. Looking at what topics have their own sub-forums can't tell you which way a forum leans-- especially since people will be drawn to forums discussing things they are opposed to as much (if not more) as things they support.

If anything, this forum has more of an anarchist/minarchist/libertarian lean than any other forum I have ever seen. It is most emphatically not Conservative.

i would say if anything the forum is pretty balance in all directions..you have to be prepared to back up your statements with facts and links

Sure there are a lot of Republicans, but that's about the only right-wing party there is here (in the common usage of the term). The left is split among the Green, Radical, Democratic, and Independent HQs. I suppose that could give the impression of the forum being right-dominated, but it's not. Then you have the libertarians, which are really neither.

Economcs is a very important issue important to mostly everyone.

The Abortion forum has many people who regularly post in it who are pro-abortion

You are right on the creationism forum, that it is not a subforum to the "Religion" forum boggles my mind...

Religion is important to lots of people who are not conservatives.. silly argument...

Placement of forums and sub-forums has nothing to do with the political leanings of this site.

i think this forum has a pretty good representation of a cross section of America....including those who dont voice their opinions in public... the lurkers represent the silent majority of the nation.

i still dont like hte idea of painting someone into a certain "wing" though....im certainly right wing on foreign policy...but i differ on domestic polivy.. im more centrist there...im not sure i have any left wing leanings...excepting issues on senior citizens and children

In the time I've been here i would say that the forum was more reflective of public opinion than most. Sometimes the advantage goes left, sometimes right. the libertarians have a strong showing, but again I'd put that down to a popular swing in the real world. Of course none of this reflects how someone would neccessarily vote but without the cold light of ballot morning foccusing one's mind pragmatically, opinion is more free to shift. I still see it as one of the more open forums I've been to, if not for the faint hearted :)

When did that happen exactly? I remember this place being dominated by Republicans with Democrats in #2, and now Libertarians have risen up and we are rivaling the RPHQ significantly.

I remember the good old days when there was one religious forum. And there were just Republican and Democrat headquarters. Now you kids and your new fangled philosophy forums...

The forums don't lean. In the time that I have been here, you notice periods of quietness on multiple sides. Sometimes, the Republicans take some caffeine pills and seem to dominate. Sometimes the radicals smoke some doobies and crawl out of their rooms with no windows and anarchy posters :lol:

They also created the Conspiracy Party forum, but hid it. A few members tried to join but couldn't find it and are now blaming the admins.
