So, today is St. Patrick's Day, Patron Saint of Ireland. It's a day where, among other things, Irish get together and eat their traditionl meal, the old Corned Beef and Cabbage routine. We all know the drill, it's one of the more famous Saint holidays.

Here's the funny part.

Ireland is like 99.9999999% Catholic. We are in the middle of Lent. This year St. Patrick's day falls on a Friday. The one meal that they are supposed to eat on St. Patrick's day is a meal that they can not eat because of their faith!

Being Irish I find this to be quite the dilemna...

Many Bishops have addressed the issue by issuing a dispensation on corned beef. Its not all Bishops but the bishop in my diocese did it as well as many others.

Well, I should have known that there would have been a contingency for this sort of thing.

And that was front page news in Austin? I would think "Oklahoma Loses" would have made the front page in much bigger print.

Well, actually the story was about some Catholic guy from Ireland that was defying the dispensation and eating his corned beef.

And it wasn't the lead story. That was about Okies.
