What is lust exactly? Is it the thoughts of doing something in an erotic and perverse nature with one's body or having intense thoughts of longing (not erotic in any sense) to be with someone? Is lust having an intense love for another human that one's attention drifts off God?
I've had intense thoughts of a girl but I have never really had any perverse thoughts of doing anything bad with my body. Although, I have been thinking about her so much that she has actually been coming into my dreams. Yes that tells me my subconcious is longing after her even in my sleep. Obsession I call it but is this a sin? I just can't help these feelings, but I can't stop thinking about her. |

| I would say that's infatuation. Sounds like you have a crush on this girl. |

No, I think you will be alright, my friend. Just do the right things. Respect the girl and yourself and you will be respecting God and His commandments. |

Lust is the raw desire for another person is a sexual manner and banned by the 6th commandment.
But without lust there can be no love so that's a contradiction in terms banning lust. |

The 6th commandment bans murder, not lust.
I don't see any commandment which mentions lust. |

I don't see any commandment which mentions lust.
In the Catholic and Orthodox 10 Commandments, 6th is Adultery. 5th is murder. Protestants split the 1st Commandment in to the 1st and Second, making "No False Gods" and "No Graven Images" two commandments, while combining the 9th and 10th in to just plain "Don't covet", hence the numbering dilemna. You're both right.
I think he's following the "Whoever lusts in his heart has already committed adultery" statement of Jesus, thus the 6th would inherantly contain lust in the commandment as well. |
