Can you elaborate? Don't they believe in salvation through Christ?
What I am asking is, can they be Christians in the same sense that Protestants, Baptists, Catholics, and Lutherans are Christians? I have a Mormom friend who identifies as Christian. |

I have known Mormons in the past as well & they consider themselves Christian, even though some of their beliefs are "way out there" IMO.
On a less subjective note, I have seen Mormons who claim to be Christian turn their back on their family when it was convient for them & totally ignore other family members sinning because,..wel...not sure why.
NOTE: I don't claim that to be a Mormon trait, but in my experience, I haven't met any Mormon I would consider Christian by their acts |

Sorry guys, I had no idea that this has been covered recently. I guess I missed it.

To say the obvious... I haven't met many Christians who I would consider Christian by their acts.
And the Mormon I know is pretty darn devout. She drinks diet Coke at parties. She hates feminists because women belong in the home. (I just keep my mouth shut and say "Uh-huh".)
Someday I'm going to get up my nerve and ask her why the hell she is spending 30 grand a year on an education so she can be a housewife, but that is totally off topic. |

The world is not comprised of the people you meet.
And why are you so intolerant of another persons beliefs. It is her money and her life, and I can tell you that nothing in my life matches being a father so I would imagine being a mother is equal if not better.
If you think life is about achievement and not simply loving and being loved you are in for an empty and dissapointing existence. |

It is not I who is intolerant of her beliefs. I never said I hated Mormons. She said she hates feminists. I'm not saying it is wrong of her to spend almost $200,000 on an education to become a housewife; that is her choice. I find it offensive that she thinks it is somehow immoral and stupid of me if I would rather use that education for something that actually requires the education. |

I guess I fail to see why one intolerance should be met with another, it escalates the level of anger and reduces the level of understanding. |

As I said, I DO tolerate her, which is why I have kept my mouth shut when she saiys things like that.
I always try to be tolerant, but it is pretty hard to be tolerant of someone when it means that they will intolerate YOU or others. It is circular. Tolerance can't be practiced if it means tolerating intolerance. |

I am sure that you are right there is only so much bigotry of any kind which is acceptable.
But a good part of such escalation is due to the expectation of one side or another of both the tone and attitude offered.
It is a fault of my own which I fight against and may too quickly apply to others.
It is as all things are a matter of balance. |
