I'm not gay but i do support equall rights for all as most canadians do we truly are the land of the freer not only are we freer then the USA but we have better pot and beer as well.
If you like freedom then Canada is the hippest destination for all Gays/Lesbians, hippies and for all you youngsters a great place to dodge any army draft in the forseeable future.
We welcome all our American freinds who wish to flee tyranny and have equall rights. Also swingers clubs etc are now legal as well so come and have fun. |

I do like Canada, and I feel it is currently much more qualified than the US to call itself the "land of the free." I'm certain I would love living in Canada.
However, I do not want to leave my friends and family, I do not want to leave my job, and I do not want to leave my home. I don't think I should have to do these things to get married, nor do I think anyone else should have to.
So my goal is not to flee tyranny it is to work against it. I'd much rather change America than leave it. |

What if I'm bisexual, but I don't smoke pot, wouldn't dodge the draft, am not a hippy, and have a strict set of morals, including the one saying that it's immoral to treat gay people worse than straight ones? Should I move to Canada? |

Well, I'm gay, don't smoke pot, registered with selective service and would sign up the second I was called to, am more preppy than hippie, and have very strict morals.
Guess I should only move to the border then. |

And the reason would be? Because I sleep with men? |

no, really because you are liberal, but that kinda stuff goes hand in hand sometimes.
I choses to associate with those of the same, political and moral values as me, the rest, I would prefer move to somewhere that they are with people of their own beliefs and morals. |

Sorry, try again. I am not a liberal. I hold a liberal view on gay rights and abortion, but that is about it. I vote Republican in nearly every race in nearly every election (Libertarians don't often make the ballot in Indiana). I am conservative on most issues. |

Good for you. I'm sure that, in your ideal world, you would kick everyone in this country out who doesn't agree with you 100%. Guess, then, you would be left with an American population consisting of you and maybe your family. |

I choose to remain where I live because my area of Florida is very conservative. I'll make a deal with people, I won't come into San Fran preaching gay is immoral if you don't come to my conservative town preaching that I'm intolerant.
That's why you should go to where you fit in better. |

But will you let gay people in San Fransisco get married if they don't come into your city and get married?
You don't have to go to San Fransisco: by denying same-sex marriage, you hurt gay people whether they're in a different city or not. Until that stops, you should expect to see people telling you that homosexuality is immoral. How else can people convince you to grant gay people marriage except by convincing you that you're wrong? |

Actually, I don't live in San Francisco. I've never been there, to tell you the truth. I live in Indiana. Which, if you know anything about the state, is one of the most conservative in the nation. I like it here.
Oh, and I am from Florida originally. While your small town may be conservative, that is not the case for the whole of Florida. |

Overall, it is. You know, the further south you go...
But the last two presidential elections have shown where the state as a whole has been.
but that's a different thread, I guess.
I didn't say you lived in San Fran, again, you guys choose to read somethings and not all things. I merely used San Fran as my example.
BTW- it appears since you have moved to Indiana, you listened to the state motto, If you don't like it here, I'll buy you the Greyhound ticket so you'll leave
Snowbirds and Yankees love to complain, but never hate it enough to leave, now do they. Glad one did at least. |

I didn't have any choice in leaving Florida....I was a child.
I am, actually, considering moving back to Florida in a couple of years to get my doctoral degree at UF. (And that decision has nothing to do with Indiana)
All of this is beside the point, really.
You say you don't want gay people to come disrupt your town, and you won't go disrupt the towns they are in. Okay, fine. But, would you, therefore, be okay with cities and states outside Florida allowing gay marriage? After all, it wouldn't be effecting you any. |

well you know the saying, "you put the gay, in the University of Florida Gay-tors"
In Canada, where it affects it's citizens, not me and my family, who cares, let Canada deal with it. In America, I'm against it. |

Oh, wow, that hurt  You called me gay? Oh, I am so offended.
How does it effect you if two men in California get married?
Seriously, I would like to know what direct impact those men are having on your life. Don't use the slippery slope argument, as it has been shown many times to be fallacious. Tell me how youre life would change because two gay men, you have never met, get married? |
