Help?

My son was trying to get his PS2 to work and it just pops up the browser part and won't play any discs. :? It won't go into the standard PS2 screen or anything. Just sits there and does nadda. You can flip through settings and such, but it doesn't scan the disc.

He played it yesterday afternoon and it was fine. Now, no matter what disc he puts in, it won't play.

Is there maybe some setting that I need to change?? I know even less about PS2's then I do about computers.. so whatever help you could give me would be appreciated.

You need to take it apart and clean the laser lens, might as well clean the whole thing while you are at, it should only take about 45 minutes to do so. That is if the warranty is expired, Sony should fix it if the warranty is still in effect.

Just take the screws out (unplug it first  ) take the cover off, the shield on the disk drive off (there's a magnet, so just "firmly" remove it, and use canned air or something to clean it out.

The setting on the PS2 should effect anything.

The same thing has happened to us, we think it died, and wha la, it works again.:)

*Disclaimer..... who doean't have one? Its not my fault if ya mess it up.

I'd say clean it . . . but mine's never done that, so I don't know if it's something in the system itself . . .

Now that I think about it . . . there was something wrong with the original system when they first released it, I'm pretty sure.

Return it, get him classic NES. Ater dipping down to about 8 bucks a piece, they have begun to climb in price again though.

P-D 4GHz w/ Nvida GeForce 7800 GTX 512, 2 GigRAM and of course, liquid cooling > Nintendo 64 > Ninendo GC > NES > Gameboy > Super NES > Xbox (because of Halo II) > PSII > PS

And that's a fact.

You put the Xbox, GC, and Gameboy above the PS2? I can understand the NES, SuperNES, and even the 64 but the Xbox, GC and Gameboy? BTW, damn your system is powerful as hell. How much did all of that cost?

Ahh, I don't have liquid cooling, but other than that... yeah I have it... if I recall it was a bit over 2 grand... and I'm counting both processor speed... it's actually 4.4ghz total... just got the new video card though........... yeah.

:)

I earned it. I debated on the liquid cooling though for a long time, and while it is a plus, it is not a "must-have." Unlike a P-D.

I just was never a fan of PS. I didn't like their games at all. Football was okay, but not really... most of their games were ust plain not good. Halo and Halo II were THE redeeming qualities of XBox.
