This ad is being played on Australian T.V. Given this, do you think it would be okay for animal rights organisations to put across their moral view-point in a similar vain? (For example, they might point out the capacity of many higher animals to fell pain as showed through scientific studies, or perhaps they might show images from a modern factory farm.)

Why/Why not?

If they can get the money to put it on, they should go for it. It won't change my mind...

Like I said, they are animals. They feel pain, but really no one cares, aside from you and other people like the infanticide-advocate Peter Singer. Well, we can kill animals painless you know....

Mark Twain must not have known house cats......

Thats because of all the animals man is the only one that reasons. Animals don't reason which is why they don't care nor feel pleasure or empathy when they kill other animals

You've never watched a housecat kill a mouse, I guess. That is sheer joy.

Don't you get it? They ARE inferior. If they were superior, wouldn't they be running the show instead of humans?

If they are so inferior, then why do you rely on them for your body to exist?

Who says we run the show? Didn't humans also think they ran the show show years ago when we thought the world was flat and earth was the center of the universe? Or was it when Europe and Asia didn't know about the Americas? I could go on with examples...

Inferior? Read the below...

What other creatures on this planet have world wars to kill masses of their own species in the name of religion, politics, etc?

Inferior?
Hawks have better vision than you...
Dogs have better scent detection than you...
Gorillas are much stronger than you...
Cheetahs are much faster than you...
Giraffes are much taller than you...
Crocodiles jaw strengh is much stronger than yours...
Birds can use their bodies to fly, you cannot...
Bats have infrared senses...
Dolphins have sonar abilities
Fish can live underwater, you cannot...
Cats have better night vision...
etc, etc,......

Yet, given man's technology we could make every single one of them extinct....... I think that trumps the rest.

no, i think you are wrong there. you think people, including yourself, dont care if animals feel pain because you do not have to face it yourself.

have you ever heard an animal scream in agony and then ate it later?

when was the last time you killed an animal for your own food and heard it gasp a dying breath?

when was the last time you visited a battery chicken farm and stood there thinking "hmmm this aint so bad , oh there is an animal in clear agony, but i dont care"

and if you do hunt animals (for food only) i have more respect for you, at least you are facing the reality of a dying animal , not just taking a hamburger out of the freezer.

and also, you say animals are an important part of the diet. yes, maybe,if you want to be lazy and have a higher chance of getting cancer, but there is no need to ever eat an animal or any of its by-products again if you dont want to and you can live a very healthy life too, so i deem your point invalid.

Not in a while.

If you count fish, in September. However, I never heard the gasp.

Every type of food has advantages and disadvantages. I'll freely grant that Americans eat too much meat. 6 oz a day would be more than enough. However, meat has many vital nutrients that are much harder to get from any other source. We are biological omnivores. Our closest relatives (chimps) are also omnivores (and they kill and eat meat whenever they have a good chance to do so).
