I understand we have a duty as humanists to preserve a human life, even if it may seriously affect it or others.

What if the baby may die anyway, even the mother? Is it right to keep a soul in that cruel, suffering form simply because it is to preserve its life? In a way that is justifying torture.

Theres no easy way to say this. If a person is in pain, and will be for the rest fo his/her natural life, then we have a duty as humans to do the most loving thing for that person, and terminate its life.

Death should be considered an option. I agree with the orginal poster. On what premise is the taking of life wrong? On a moral one? Then go protest the war. You can't write off abortion as murder and still support a war. Morals are relative. They are what you make them.

Oh... and is Iraq a Congress declared war? (digression i know but i'm just wondering)

100% agree....

Freaking hypocrites, THere are enough welfare addicted mothers out there having more and more babies that our tax dollars support... So anytime someone wants to get rid of a baby that is just going to cost me more tax $$$ then I say give my the hanger and I will do it myself for them!!!!

Sure I can. And I do.

Lets compare. Abortion is the act of taking the life of an innocent unborn baby for the convenience of the parents (in 90% of the cases anyways).

War is not so easy to pin down. When the war is a war against a particular ethnicity such as Hitler vs Jews, or Hutu's vs Tutsi's then it is the most horrible thing on the planet. But when it is a war for the liberation of a people it is a good thing. Sadaam Hussein is responsible for the deaths of 100's of thousands of his own people, and would hve continued to murder his own people had we not intervened. Yes we took some lives, but we saved many more than we took, and we have established a democracy in the center of the Middle east, a stepping stone to ending global terrorism and saving countless lives in the process. In this case war is good.

And one final thought, there are very few pro-lifers who would not support a termination if it meant saving the mothers life.
