I frequently find myself having premonitions in my dreams. In the past, I usually only realized they were visions once they happened. More recently, I'm somewhat able to expect which dreams are premonitions, though by no means in a certain manner.

Does someone have any information as far as how to control this ability more consciously?

Could you give some examples of your premonitions that came through?

I'm no expert.

But, I notice alot of people play "fit the dream sequence into this reality" - that is, they will take some unremarkable aspect of a dream, align it with something that happened to them and call it a premonition.

The more you dream, the more, I guess, you could situate your real life with dream if thats what you believe.

I was always told, however, dreams were figments of passed reality making all manifestations elements of things that were - messages can be learned about them as the subconcious does not have the logic our concious has when piecing experiences together.

I probably made no sense, but thats my post.

You experience premonitions?? Great! C'mere. Who is going to win the Toronto Blue Jay - Boston Red Sox game tomorrow? We won tonight but I should like to bet on tomorrow's game. Gimme.

It's hard to describe. Most of them are trivial scenes, like getting a paper handed back, or seeing someone. What's remarkable is that the scene fits exactly - all the background, sight, sound, etc. are exactly the same as I experienced in the dream sequence.

tools such as tarot cards, I ching, or rune stones might be a way to harness this.

To expand on that idea: meditation and various tools that help to provide a focus might enable you to tap into your premonitions while still in a conscious state. Whether or not you can find a practical way to make use of your premonitions is quite another matter though. If it's just mundane stuff that doesn't have any discernable influence on steering your life in one direction or another, perhaps there's not much to be gained. On the other hand, if you can develop a talent for discerning which things are premonitions and which aren't, and with practice strengthen your ability to invoke foresight, you might eventually tap into something of importance. I suspect it takes years of trial and error, patience and practice though - unless you're spectacularly gifted.

The premonintions I have had in my dreams are more symbolic than concrete. The standard dream interpretation concepts such as death indicating change seems to hold true in my life.

However, I agree with the two above posts that tools such as meditation or tarot can help.

How long do these premonitons last?

I think I know what you are talking about, I used to have them all the time. I would have short dreams and then experience them weeks to months later exactly how I dreamed them. As I got older and started realizing in my dream that I would see this one later, but the real thing would be changed from the dream. Now I have waking visions occasionally, except I can't tell if they are real or if my mind is making them up.

I've only talked about them to one person before, I feel crazy talking about this to others.
