Yep, we colonials often find ourselves getting asked to participate in the war du jour. however our presence in Vietnam was no more special or well informed than any other nation's. We have a very decent artillery regiment which was used to support missions by ours and other infantries. Probably the best way to think of the NZ forces in Vietnam was as a compliment to our Australian neighbours. I rate their and our troops fairly highly in that conflict due to both being comprised of volunteers.

the reason we all lost was purely because it wasn't our country. Vietnam is for Vietnamese.

Unless, of course, you are extracting economic concessions and / or natural resources from the country you are invading. Engaging in a major conflict such as Vietnam based on ideological differences just sets everyone involved backwards....

Yep. If Vietnam had nukes, the US would not have had the guts to invade in the first place! haha

Or unless you are extracting economic resources from your own citizens, present and future.
