George Bush Letter to Mayor Nagin and Governor Blanco

Quote: An open Letter:

Dear Governor Blanco and Mayor Nagin:

Where does the time go? Here we are just three months away from the official start of the 2007 hurricane season. Seems like only yesterday Mother Nature was beating up poor black people in New Orleans and environs.

With your help, I might add.

My purpose in writing on the sixth of March is to remind you of the inherent dangers in the Big Easy, especially during hurricane season. I hope you are both aware of the fact that New Orleans is BELOW SEA LEVEL. This fact was in the news and on TV last August and September.

Because you are below sea level, flooding is a real possibility if a major hurricane lands in your city. Which reminds me of my next point: Louisiana, including New Orleans, is what we call a gulf state where hurricanes are quite common.

Follow so far? To recap: You are below sea level in a city where major hurricanes can and do happen. Below seal level+ hurricane danger= Possibility of flooding and loss of life and property.

In reviewing my "lessons learned" file from 2005, I think it wise to pass on a few tips for the new season:

-Michael Brown is no longer with FEMA, so you will not be able to blame your failures on "brownie" this year. In addition, Mr. Chertoff's days are numbered, so he will probably not be your fall guy this Fall.

-Because my poll numbers are so damn putrid, you can blame me all you like. Won't make a bit of difference, though. Besides I am "termed out." Its in the Constitution if you ever have a spare moment to read.

-Mayor Nagin, if you could start moving buses to high ground NOW, you might save some lives. Waiting until the storm hits and then bitching because your buses are all under water is NOT a good strategery!

-Governor Blanco, will you kindly NOT tell anyone that the levees are OK until someone with normal intelligence can assess the situation? You were no doubt well intentioned last time when you gave the "all clear," but that faulty call resulted in unnecessary loss of lives and property.

-Mayor Nagin, if you would kindly NOT tell the media that you have ordered XXX body bags until a normal person has evaluated the situation. Last September, you announced that 20,000 body bags had been ordered which added to the hysteria of the media and your Democrat pals looking to score political points.

Above all, remember this is not issue about Democrat vs Republican or Liberal vs Conservative. We are all members of the same team and will sink or swim together. No pun intended.

Until next time, I remain your Faithful Father Figure,

GW Bush

John W. Lillpop
San Jose, CA 95111

So, does our comander-n-chimp hate black people and midgets or what?

Does the left still want to try and use this as some kind of political race card? I mean, can we get past this? Or, is mother nature the next person that needs to stand trial for racism? I don't think she's going to like that very much.

Does the black community still believe the levee was blown by Bush's secret agents? <--- not a joke. :-|

BTW... Houston is not concerned with the Orleans 'chocolate milk' issue or race cards whatsoever, us Houston crackers are too busy taking care of our new chili bowl.

Way too witty for the real W!

W does have the humor gene though! The "fool me once... er..." Bush quote is a completely different level of comedy. Above our heads I guess.

Is there a point to all of this? Or are you merely inviting more flaming on this thread?

You could at least have indicated that the letter was rather "toungue in cheek," thanx to John W. Lillpop of San Jose, CA.

In the end, it would seem as though despite the fact that all levels of government failed the people of NO and other outlining communities, the Bush apologist's endless insistence on passing the buck when the administration's actions during Hurricane Katrina were merely one piece of an arrogant and incompetent puzzle is clearly a desparate attempt to deflect criticism during a mid-term election year. Between Katrina, Iraq, NSA spying, corruptiong and cronyiesm, the overall picture of the Bush administration is one that roughly 2/3rds of Americans do not like. No wonder polls are indicating Democratic victories in November, as our presumed system of checks and balances has been steamrolled in favor of corporate monopoly and power in the highest levels of government.

They all failed. But unlike Nagin and Blanco, Bush has a lot of other incompetent reasons for holding him accountable. And voters in NO and Louisianna can also vote out both the Mayor and the Governor if they felt it was time for a change. Hell, start a recall effort. It worked here in California.

Some have started petitions for the impeachment of George W. Bush. The same could certainly be started for both Blanco and Nagain.

As far as race, it is undeniable that the poorest residents of the area hit by Hurricane Katrina were mostly African American, and there are obviously underlining issues that should be addressed, but never are, as Americans insist on looking the other way. It was a knee jerk reaction for Kanye West to say what he said, as the frustrations were intense and the wounds deep and fresh. But there is STILL an impression by many in the African American community that they are considered second class citizens, and they see a predominantly White Presidential Administration and Congress not doing enough for racial equality in this country. It is an unavoidable impression rooted in the investment of hundreds of years of slavery.

I think Bill Maher had a great idea; move NO to Kansas. Give those boring, white folk some color and excitement in their lives. They could certainly use it.

Perhaps. And no, the letter wasn't very funny at all. That's usually a problem with rightwingers who THINK they're being funny.

Bush is a lame duck who's becoming more insignificant with each passing day. If the Dems take Congress, I would expect a lot more pressure for accountability by the Bush administration. Hell, there's even the possibility for impeachment.

If and when that happens, then the Teflon chimp will become the 800 lb Gorilla in the Velcro suit.

Amazing isn't it? how Maher, Stewart and Franken are hilarious pointing out incompetencies of Bush and Republicans yet when someone takes a comedic stab at the incomtenencies of democrats suddenly you get your panties in a bunch.

Louisiana voters have a good reason to believe, based on the history of state politics, that anyone they elect to lead the state out of crisis will fail and fail miserably. Ask any Louisiana resident if they have ever had confidence in state or local government.

It's called a joke.

You actually have to be funny. Both Republicans and Democrats can be pretty damned incompetent, but if you want to make fun of them, you have to actually be FUNNY first.

We have yet to see the Greens even prove their competency. Now that is funny.

We do it time and again on the local level. What's funny (and truly amazing) is what little you actually know about the Green Party.

Except the avatar of Bush eating money isn't intended to be funny.

Yep, it is funny since we never hear about it. Must be a slow rise.
