More misleading headlines?
Notification may not reduce teen abortions—Study finds rate fell in Texas after law was enacted, but not as fast as previously
It may not reduce teen abortions but study finds it does?
Still waiting for someone to show me where in the constitution is the right for a minor to have a government funded abortion without parental notification...... |

| The rate they are counting is all abortion rates, including abortions that are not affected by the notification law. Keep that in mind. |

| More lies from Pedo. Study shows abortions go down, but not as fast as predicted and he claims the law makes abortion rates increase. Why do I even bother to read stuff posted by Pedo? Oh yeah. The entertainment factor. |

| Regardless of how it affects the number of abortions, some of us just think it's a good idea to let the parent know before THEIR CHILD UNDERGOES SURGERY. |

| Parental notification laws are good, regardless of whether they increase or decrease abortions (although even that fact is seriously at issue). That never even slightly entered my rationale for supporting them. |

Exactly. A minor is a minor because she is not independent and the law recognizes her as not possessing the adequate ability to make independent decisions. Why something as important as abortion should be exempt from this reasoning is beyond me. |

I don't think notification laws are in place to curb or reduce the number of abortions... |

Thank God those girls have their parents to help them through this rough time. |

This is one question that I was screaming at President Bush when debating Senator Kerry last election. Sen. Kerry mentioned he didn't think it was right to force a girl to go and tell the father who raped her (or will beat her because of the pregnancy) that she needs an abortion.
Yeah, because just completing the abortion and sending her back to her father is the right thing to do.
No, if she was raped by her father or his afraid of him physically abusing her she needs to let the doctor know that so they can bring in the police to investigate and take her out of that situation.

It is easy to criticize and be objective about such a situation when you are on the sidelines. |

| The thread makes no sense, the only thing that can increase abortions is the act of having abortions. To say a law restricting abortions causes more of them would be like blaming a rise in murders on the laws against murder. |

| Pedagogue, I read the same article. It did not say that it increased abortions, it said that there was no relation between the two. |

| Parental notification laws are not a good thing in some cases. They can put the child in unnecessary danger. It should be up to the person if she wants to tell her parents or not. |

Notification may not reduce teen abortions wrote: Since the U.S. Supreme Court recognized states' rights to restrict abortion in 1992, parental involvement legislation has been a cornerstone in the effort to reduce abortions.
John Galt wrote: Pedagogue, I read the same article. It did not say that it increased abortions, it said that there was no relation between the two.
Notification may not reduce teen abortions wrote: For instance, in Tennessee, the abortion rate went down when a federal court suspended a parental consent requirement, then rose when the law went back into effect. |

| How do you feel about informing parents before a minor has his/her appendix removed? |

Do you think that the parents should be notified if the child acts badly in school?
Is an abortion more or less serious than acting out in school? |
