I'm curious to know:
Do you meditate? Regularly?
How do you meditate - what do you find helps you to meditate more effectively?
Why do you meditate?
Feel free to add anything else you want to discuss with regard to meditation in this thread. |

| I guess I meditate several different ways. For stress reduction, I focus all my energy inward, becoming mindful of the present moment. I focus on my breathing; I inhale calmness and peace and exhale unrest or negative energy. If I am struggling with say anger, sadness, or fear I step into it to find my answers, again focusing all my energy inward. I picture these struggles as if it were an onion, and peeling away layer by layer, until I find the core of my difficulty. If I am having difficulty settling my mind, I will use very calm and relaxing music as an aide. |

| Does anyone regularly use meditation methods to go to sleep? I find it helps me sleep better, and I have much more productive dreams. |

Yes i meditate regularly, although it is only about once a week now instead of 3-4 days a week. I practice standing and moving meditation while focusing on as many acupuncture meridians as I can at the same time...my highest is 4. My seated meditation almost always involves the microcosmic orbit and jin training with candles.
Does anyone else practice standing meditation? Bagua, tajichuan, etc? |

Do you meditate? Yes.
Regularly? No. Maybe once a week, or more often depending on how busy I am, how stressed I am, and my activities for the week.
How do you meditate - what do you find helps you to meditate more effectively? I typically sit and practice controlled breathing until I am in a calm, reflective state, and then I turn my thoughts to the subject of my meditation.
Occasionally, my meditation is oriented towards something other than a calm, reflective state-- usually when neurohacking on an emotional level.
I haven't found anything that helps me meditate other than removing distractions, but I need to do that in order to do much of anything.
Why do you meditate? Mostly neurohacking. I spend a lot of time trying to change the way my mind functions. I do it to organize my memories, regulate my emotional responses, and to forge deliberate mental associations between ideas.
I've tried meditating for spiritual reasons, but I do not have the patience for traditional magick, and ever since I got my anger under control-- years ago-- I haven't been able to get angry enough for berserkrgang. |

| I'm new to meditation, but I would really like to give it a try. Does anyone have any tips for me to start off with? |

cant meditate, though ive tried.
quieting the mind, is the most difficult.
a good suggestion was to use the words RA and MAH; and just to focus on saying RA and MAH and nothing else.
that suggestion got me closest to whatever its called when your in the zone. |

Ok, perhaps you find it hard to participate in void meditation. You can still meditate, whenever I meditate I do not try to quiet the mind, Infact, I try to make it more noisy(That's a simplistic way to put it, really I just try to make my mind more attuned to outside noises, rather than inside noises). Usually when I meditate It is part of a Clairaudient or Clairvoyant experience.
Personally I don't understand the purpose of void meditation, I suppose it's good for the body and the mind or something, many people do it to calm themselves and reduce stress, but that sort of comes naturally to me anyways. I suppose it is important to be ABLE to do void meditation, as it is a sign of mental discipline, which is important for other things, or perhaps void meditation is a good way to develop mental discipline. |

| I meditate either in a lotus position, seated, or lying on my back. I do not focus on anything; I simply let all my thoughts float away from me. Eventually, images just come to me without my summoning. |

I meditate in two ways.
I walk in the country. While walking I listen to the sounds of my feet on the gravel and then any external noises such as birds or running water, the wind in the trees.
While doing this I imagine that I am emptying myself of what is inside and filling myself with what is outside.
I find this very productive and enjoyable. I find an increase in creative output as well.
The second way I meditate is with a technological method of manipulating my brain frequencies to to delta and theta frequencies via audio Cd's. According to the product literature it will unify the the hemispheres of the mind. My feeling is that it lives up to what it claims about itself.
I find this to be very useful and it has produced an amazing reservoir of energy in me. |

Ever consider sensory deprivation capsule? It would block out all light and sound from the outside world. |

Definately, I also find my dreams related to whatever I have mediated on. When I can't sleep I usually focus on love, peace, and kindness. |

Same here, I find it to be a good way to train your mind to control you thoughts. It definately helps in those stressful times. |

Can you elaborate a little more about your experiences with Hemi-Sync? I'm looking into buying a CD but wasn't sure if it was worth the money. |

| Has anyone here had any unusual experiences from mediating such as lucid dreams or astro travel? |
